Advice for Fixing Interior Buttons

Hey MB World - new to the board!

I have a 2016 E-Class with Brown steering wheel/buttons and black window control buttons. Many of the buttons are chipping.

Any advice on kits I can purchase to replace the buttons?

I've also tried reaching out to local (southern california) car repair companies to see if anyone repaints interior details and so far no luck!

The option is to find a sticker kit, which I’ve never seen in brown, only chrome or black, or try eBay as a source of cheap used parts….or new from dealer.

Sweat.

The surround around the light switch on my 2006 E55 melted into a gooey mess.

Did you fix it? If so, how?

This E-Class is a W212, but regardless,

Don't go for stickers. They're a cheap and straightforward "fix" but the results are also gimmicky.

There are plenty of aftermarket replacements for 212 interior buttons (it's an extremely common issue...,) and most of them require very minor interior disassembly to replace, but is well worth it in the end.

For example, the door lock/unlock buttons can be popped out and replaced in twenty seconds with a small flathead. Same with the window switches. The steering wheel should be a little more involved but still not too difficult.
Just be careful around the airbag. And there are a lot of exact replacement guides for almost all of them on YouTube.

Window switches (C-Class, but should be identical):
Lock/unlock:
Steering Bezel (just swap in new button clusters where he re-uses his old ones):

I don't have this problem but the video shows a really good, easy fix. Shame on MB for using such cheap buttons that they chip and flake with normal use.

I’ve never had any of my buttons in any car ever have any issues. This often comes from people wearing lotion on their hands, hand sanitizers, rings or continuously using improper chemicals for cleaning.. or people that continuously touch and fiddle with something vs normal use. This can also happen from sun damage and extreme heat, and when there’s leaks in the car which create a moist environment.
