WTH Mercedes. Our cars are now iPhones?? Shut off the apps so we have to buy a new one?

If remote start or other features require backend infrastructure to work then it's always a possibility that you will lose the features if the company supporting the backend decides to stop supporting it. This is normal for tech, but not as normal for cars. It's becoming more of a thing. Things like remote start not functioning any longer is hardly class action worthy, but that's just my opinion and I am no lawyer. You bought the car knowing there is a subscription for some things and that it could go away. Pretty simple actually. I'm not a fan of subscription models either, but I recognize that some features like maps and AA/ACP require the company to continuously support them with updates and that it's reasonable to charge a reoccurring fee for them. With that comes the enevetableity that support will end one day.

Several features in my '18 E300 that were free went away without notice such as internet browser and mbrace. I regularly used mbrace to remote start, monitor traffic cams, etc. Alas, MB no longer has apps that work on my E300. IMO all non-subscription features that come with a new car should remain useable for the life of the car and never simply "go away".

I already lose TuneIn so that is gone. I also got and email from MB stating the Mercedes Digital may end based on 2 factors:
Cellular technology and tech advancements in optioned vehicles. All other permanent features will remain but it's kinds of hard to live with the without all the features. I have had a chance to live with my car without the Mercedes features, Auto Start was one of the features which went away but I got it back after I updated the MercedesMe App.
So in the end, the APP became useless once my services expired. It only kept the health of the car and nothing else.

You are good to go. MBrace was only available in the USA. There were no connected services available in Canada until 2019 model year Mercedes Me.
