E-class folks, I think I have gotten what I wanted out of my G63: https://mbworld.org/forums/g-class-w...sh-thread.html (someone will get a well sorted G wagon) and I'm looking to scratch a euro wagon itch. Something that is better for 9+ hour road trips and easier to load my 90lb golden into. I'm seriously considering a 2022/2023 E450 wagon. For anyone who has lived with one for a while what things do you like or don't like?

I own a 2022 E450 All-terrain with 65,000 miles on. Probably the best car that I ever owned. Came from Range Rover SUV and like that space for all my boating stuff. Also did some nice trips from NC to Colorado and Florida with it and super comfy to sit all day. It's sporty enough and I get over 30mpg on the interstate.
Normally I would start looking at something new, but the new model is not really an upgrade so going to keep for another 2 years. No problems at all and replaced the Michelin tires at 50,000 miles. Really don't have any not- likes. Let me know if you have specific questions.

If the 24+ didn't have the pop out door handles I'd seriously consider a new one. Some weird questions though:
-how are the cupholders?
-in CO did you get to drive it through any adverse weather?
-have you used the roof rails at all? We'll have a roof box for skis in the winter
Cup holders in the middle console are spacious enough for all sizes. There are also cup holders in the door fitting water bottle for longer trips. the back row has also cup holders in the foldout armrest.
The 4matic drive from MB is excellent and the all-weather Michelins are ok. Went several times to Breckenridge skiing and it's nice through deeper snow with the lift option.
Never used the roof rails since plenty of space inside and no more kids at home .

Just asking out of curiosity, what don't you like about the pop out handles, fwiw I wasn't a fan of them at first but I now have a W214 (sedan) and realized I don't hate them at all. i like how nice the lines flow with them tucked in.

We do a lot of ski trips and winter trips up north, from what I’m reading I don’t have a ton of faith in them with ice. Maybe it’s a non issue if there is like a manual emergency way to force them out?

Gotcha. Ya I took delivery two months ago just after the last snow fall here in Canada so didn't get to test the handles in extreme cold but as far as I am concerned that is not a single complaint on this forum.
To answer your question, yes the handle can be forced out manually and intentional so you can stick the metal key blade in to open the doors when the keyfob battery is dead like previous MB models.https://www.mercedes-benz.ca/en/owne...-emergency-key

Good thing I always carry a flat non-metallic object "Insert a flat, non-metallic object behind the retracted door handle from above and pry it slightly outward." They probably are fine though I just wish they had stuck with a standard door handle that wouldn't even have a concern.

Certain countries are banning retractable door handles the facelift I guess 2027 or 2028 model year W214 might at least give an option to have standard handles, MBUSA might still be standard with retractable door handles only because USA isn't banning it plus MBUSA market cars usually have more standard options than say European market MBs.
My thoughts is that if these are not really a dealbreaker, you should indeed look at W214, test drive different configurations and see if you end up liking them.

Haven't read the full thread but I have owned a fully loaded 21 E450 All Terrain since Nov 2024 and have driven across the country like 4 times. Have put about 30k miles on it. Can definitely say 12 hour trips are very easy with Driver's Assistance and massage seats. I've done up to 15 hours in one day (Denver to Chicago). It's also my overlanding/camping rig. I wish I would have gone with a G Wagon, not sure if you're using the car for All Terrain purposes, but it performs well enough I can get to some crazy spots with a lift and all terrain tires. You can definitely attach cross bars and add roof accessories, see pics.
Mechanically has been perfect, however after 60k total miles there are some minor issues I've had (creaking suspension, creaking interior rattle, creaking steering) that I will be addressing soon at the dealer under warranty.
Personally I am not a fan of the W214. Got one as a loaner and just felt too high-tech, and I am a tech guy. I really love the W213 interior design, physical buttons, real wood dash, and honestly NTG6 MBUX is advanced enough. I actually went backwards in software from a 2022 C300 to the wagon, and the buttons + wood dash are just better IMO.

love the pics! At least the w463 G wagon isn’t the best highway cruiser. I think your use case is spot on for me too, long road trips. Extremely light off roading / dirt road access. What tires are you running?

BFGoodrich Trail Terrain T/As. Also went down to 18" wheels and road noise is still fantastic.
Oh that is interesting I wasn't sure if I could go down to an 18" with the brakes. Do you know your specs offhand?
Actually Discount Tire told me it wasn't technically possible but I spoke with a manager and they fit with just enough clearance. 18x8 5x112 35mm Sparco Terra wheels, tires are 225/55 R18 102H XL BSW. There is another user on this forum who got the same wheels but with Falken Wildpeaks specifically for snow/ski and they were happy with them.
