Hmmm, they need a competitor to the M5 Comp, unless they want to use the E 53 to compete? Given the massive power bump compared to previous gen E 53?

For those who are in Canada...
Both of the dealerships in my area (GTA, Ontario) notified me about arrival of the new W214, can't wait to see it in person to see if the taillights are as intrusive as I thought.
Superscreen is a $1600 pre-tax option according to my salesperson. That is surprising as was expecting couple thousands to even 10K CAD.

MB Star and Horizontal Grill
No MB Star or Horizontal Grill this year, only in Europe.
Maybe when MB Corporate wakes up and realizes that we in the USA like both features they might offer it next model year but given looks wise, the new W214 imo is a big step down from my W213. I have driven the new W214 and it looks cheap on the inside, lots of lights with a Toyota style dashboard with loads of plastic! The exterior front grill looks tacky, remember this is supposed to be a luxury sedan not a cheap “Street Racer” and the rear taillights with the MB logo looks stupid as well as being a near exact copy of the 2023 W213 tail lights. Lastly, imo the standard wheels on the car are just plain ugly and if you chose the 19” or 20” variants you’ll be buying new tires every time you go over a pothole. Of course there will be people that will defend the design just because it’s a MB, but having driven E and S class cars the past 35 years this is the worst example of the E class I have ever seen.
Lastly, I currently have a 2019 E class and I went to the dealer with the plan to order a new E class but after driving it (the car I drove didn’t come with the Homelink system as MB ran out of the chips that operate that system) and measuring the eye appeal
given the interior and exterior I realized the juice just isn’t worth the squeeze. To those anticipating ordering a W124 E class, you might want to wait until the next model year.

The W215 isn’t due until around 2030 and lots of things can change between now and then. I have serious doubts about the reality of an all electric E class given the fact that no one on the planet really wants a car that is inherently unreliable in temperatures under 40 degrees Fahrenheit which Tesla owners experienced in the Midwest during this past winter. Along with that is the reality that the current electric grid in the United States can’t service a nation of EV’s, add that to the lack of charging stations. If you go to mainland Europe no one owns EV’s, they are driving diesel engine cars. The Green Heads still don’t understand that the current generation of Internal Combustion engines are far less polluting than their EV counterparts as EV cars eat up rubber tires at almost twice the rate of their internal combustion cousins. In any case I think MB will get a major wakeup call this year as I think their sales will suffer from their own short sightedness, time will tell.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Certainly many negative people here. I expect to have an allocation for a 2025 E450 sometime in May. Really wanted an E53 but there won’t be allocations until fall for delivery in first quarter of 2025. My wife will not wait that long for her new car. Thé E450 should be a very nice car once loaded up.
As far as EV’s are concerned, new generation batteries will be lighter and offer much longer range. GM expects to have new batteries next year. The new cars will charge battery 10- 80% in 15 min.
