E450 discounts

My E450 is at the port in Germany so should arrive in US soon. For anyone that has taken delivery, did you receive a discount and, if so, how much? I would include the E350 also. Thanks.

When did you order?

Regarding discounts, my understanding is that has to be worked out before you place the order. I think your price is locked in at time of order. I'm hoping to order in the next few days.

Ordered on February 13. That has not been my experience with Mercedes and Porsche but I have had an extensive history with each dealer.

When you ordered were you given a price? Was a deposit taken? Was it refundable?

Your only option may be when the car comes in, to refuse to take delivery unless a discount is given to you.

If there is not a pre-negotiated price when a contract is signed for the *CUSTOM* order of the car, isn’t it logical to assume that one will be (or has agreed to) paying MSRP for the car? I will be going to a dealership next week to place a custom order for a E450, but with a pre-negotiated price and other details that both sides have agreed upon (including options/features on the car, price, deposit amount, form of balance payment, any trade-in, etc). It is true that one can refuse delivery of the car and presumably gets the deposit back, but then one has to wait for an allocation of a later build date.

No price when ordered. No deposit taken. The salesperson is a friend and I have bought many cars from him. I have received discounts in the past without a prenegotiated price.

I've factory ordered several MB's from my dealer. I've always placed a small refundable deposit. Price was negotiated at delivery time, not in advance. Over the years, I've purchased at least 20 new cars from the same salesman. Unfortunately he passed away last year.

My experience is completely the opposite: I shop around to find the best deal. I then place an order at an agreed upon fixed price.

Also, I never considered the salesman a friend: The salesman is trying to get the most money from me.

I guess your way, not knowing what you will pay, is OK if you do not need the car and are willing to walk away if you do not get the discount you want and/or expect.

Just not the way I am wired.

I have many friends that are business owners or salesmen with whom I do business. Not every transaction needs to be adversarial. Life is too short.

I spent $162 with a coupon for my last A service at the dealer.

Many of the sales people I deal with are neighbors that I socialize with on a weekly basis.

You are correct.

I apologize.

I had you confused with 2012 merc amg who is from Venice Florida.

I just ordered mine today and while I have a price the dealership said any incentives available at the time when the vehicle arrives and I actually purchase it will be applied. There are none right now but there may be in 3+ months when my vehicle is ready.

Good for you! So, any incentives the dealership gets from Mercedes at the time of car delivery will be applied in addition to whatever discount you are getting in your pre-negotiated price. I have an appointment with my local dealership to custom order a E450 next week (with a pre-negotiated price) and hopefully they will offer me the same.

FWIW: When I ordered my E450, the dealer offered me the exact same thing: A pre negotiated set price at a substantial discount, plus any incentives at the time of delivery.

Incentives

Only given at times to move cars. I cannot imagine a brand new mb model is hitting the US **** with discouns right off the boat. Must pass so e time, like second half of 24. Dealers will offer 8-10% when sales slowed down.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
JTK, what's your issue with me? just because I deal with the dealer on Service should not be a reason to say deleted. I too have a great relationship with Clearwater MB (formally Lokey) and one hand feeds the other, they take good care of me. I don't look at everything from just a $$$ point of view.

Question Taken Delivery?

Has anyone taken delivery of E450? Did you pay MSRP - or was there any difference - and extras you had to pay for?

You got a "substantial discount" on an E450? Pray tell...
