Picking up my 2024 E350 on Thursday. I know my car has the animated led logo projectors in the door that came with the car for $310 (D45). my question is, the logo projection that comes on the mirrors, it should still be there right? Or is that replaced? I was under the impression that is standard on all the new cars.

To my knowledge, the mirror projection is standard. They have an animated mirror projection for the mirrors as an option.

Thank you! Please see attached photos. The animated option on the MBUSA build site that is the same price that is on my sheet of my vehicle appears to be coming out of the light on the bottom of the door no? Could it be that I have both? The one on the mirror here? and the one on the door?

After checking, it appears the animated mirror logos are only available on AMGs. But the Mercedes emblem mirror logo is standard so you should have both. Sorry for the confusion.

I can't thank you enough. The only thing that confused me is on the build site it says that it lights up when you unlock the car, and but the door would be shut and wouldn't shine that animated logo. But I like the standard logo on the mirror much more so I'm glad that I'll have both. I also emailed my service advisor to ask because they are adding the ceramic coat this week so the car would be inside for him to check.

I can't thank you enough. You and another guy on this forum have been extremely helpful for me. It was nice to get some insight into buying my car. A 73,000 dollar car is expensive lol.

The star logo projected from the mirrors are standard and act as an approach light. They will not show until the car is unlocked and the mirrors fold out. If you rely on the car unlocking only when you grab the door handle they won't show until you are opening the door since that is the moment the car unlocks and the mirrors fold out. To see them as you approach, you must use the remote to unlock the car from a distance.

The animated stars beneath the doors are only seen when you open the door and act to illuminate the ground when you enter and exit the car. Once you close the door, they are gone but the large star from the mirror remains for a short time.

Thanks! I figured I would have both! I can't thank you both enough. I'll post some pics as soon as I pick it up on Thursday. I'll miss my 2015 S550, but it's time to downsize a bit.

It may not be the same, but my son has a new BMW M4 that has the same basic feature and the projection comes from under the car up by the wheel well, thus the pattern remains the same whether the door is open or closed.

You may be right. I've never seen the option in person. Just the mirror projectors.

Did these come with your car? Can you confirm where the lights emit from?

hey! Looks like I can help you now! :-). Yes my car came with both. The standard Mercedes star comes out of the mirror, and then the animated lights come out of the doors, on the front driver and front passenger. I can do a picture later today if you need.

On a side note, how does that driver in the video at the 50-second mark have a visible standing hood emblem on the W214? To my recollection, it was removed in 2021 from the E series.

I looked all over eBay and can't find a single one that is a certified match, do they change the entire bonnet (hole) design for the US market? I assumed they would cover the emblem with the new US one and leave the hole under it?

In countries other than North America, the luxury grille is an option. It comes with a hood star and looks more like the S-Class. There are also some board members who got an after market hood star and installed it. There is speculation that the grille for the luxury option can directly replace the AMG grille and the hood star can snap right in the hood. Nobody has tried to verify that I am aware of.

I figured just as much, Europe and Asia gets all the cool stuff before we do in the States.

If anyone is interested I can confirm that the Mercedes Logo emitts from the mirror unit and when you open the door you get the open puddle lights.
I have noticed though that when you turn the engine off and open the door to get out both the Logo and Puddle lights will emit onto the ground and after 5-10seconds if you keep the door open then only the puddle lights will remain until you close the door and then only the Mercedes logo re-apears from the mirror units.
I'm going to see if I can get a picture of them both at the same time but these are the only pics I have so far if anyone is interested:

Referring to the mini stars, a.k.a. puddle lights, where do they emit from? Is it the bottom of the doors or coming from under the car? If it comes from the doors then they move as the door is closed and cannot shine when the door is closed. The large stars from the mirrors are cool but they don't work until the mirrors are folded out and do not illuminate the ground where you get in since they shine outside the door and not between the door and car. I'm assuming that is what the puddle lights are for and that they just replace the standard lights at the bottom of the doors. I suspect there will be aftermarket lights that replace the entry lights in the door that do more than just the mini stars. The W214 is still too new for many aftermarket add-ons but I expect that to change soon.

To my knowledge, it comes from the bottom of the door itself not under the car but I will double check over the weekend and report back.

As promised, upon further inspection the puddle light is emitted from the door panel underneath the red warning/caution light.
