Vehicle settings / Comfort / Roof blind

Hello friends,

Has anyone figured out what this setting does?

I can't find it in the manual. If i search for the keyword "Comfort" I get thousands of results, and if I search for "Roof blind"; I get directed to the pages where it explains how to operate the roof blind.

super old thread but I had same question. I suspect (but note sure) that this was for other non-US markets and was a setting to automatically close the blind when you turn off the car?

I believe it's just a secondary control for opening and closing the roof blind. My EU car has an additional toggle in "Open/close" to close the blind when locking. I can also close it (and the windows) in the app.

Here's what Co Pilot ChatGPT says:

MBUX → Comfort → Roof Blind
Here’s what that menu typically controls and how it fits into the broader system.
🌤️ What “Comfort → Roof Blind” Does
This section of MBUX lets you open, close, or set automatic behavior for the panoramic roof sunshade (also called the roof blind). Depending on your model and year, you’ll usually find options like:
Open / Close the roof blind Controls the opaque shade that slides under the glass roof.

Set intermediate positions Some models allow partial opening for glare control.

No mention of it not being available on US cars, but what else is new.

another way to open or close the shade which covers the sunroof. You can slide your finger back/forward with the overhead console or go 3 level deep in a screen. At one point you could say lHey Mercedes open.close sun shade but when you try now you get some safety reply

From my experience it won’t let you open the shade while in motion, thus the safety reply.

In what world is this is a safety concern? You are correct but it begs the question of how it could be a problem.

There are a few of "Hey Mercedes" commands that are disabled in the US. Seems like anything that would physically move something in the car. I tried controlling the passenger window by voice and got the same "unavailable in this country due to safety issues" type message.

My roller blind closes each and every time I use voice commands to close and it doesn’t matter if I am at a standstill or going 70 mph. And Hey Mercedes also often adds an acknowledgement such as, “You’re right, its too bright out there…”

While on the subject...is there a way to open/close the sunroof and blind simultaneously, or do you have to wait for the blind to slowly crawl its way to a stop before operating the sunroof?
