Seems strange to me that we paid for the digital light package and now we have to pay to activate it. There was nothing mentioned that this additional fee was required.

You bought the digital light. The projections option is an add on. Kind of sneaky but that’s the way it is.

For me there were options. I think there was one month free followed by $5 a month or $115 for permanent activation (or similar). I activated on my computer and it was instantly available on the app and the car.
I had the same options for monthly, yearly, or permanent. I went with the one-time permanent option but haven't gone out to the car to check it out yet.
Did you guys have to do anything for it to show up in your mercedes me store?
I have the digital light package but on mine its just the dash cam but no digital light projection package available for purchase.
To see it on the Mercedes Me phone app I had to click on the menu icon in the upper left (three horizontal lines known as the hamburger icon) and tap on my car at the top of the resulting menu. That will give you several options with one being to "Manage Digital Extras". That will bring you to a page with several different categories of digital extras. Go to "Safety and Service" and you should see DIGITAL LIGHT Projection Animations as one that you have not purchased/activated. At least that what it showed for me. Tap that and you can buy it.
hmm its not there on the app for me. Maybe it's a difference between 2024 and 2025 model year cars?
Hopefully my car receives the projections option soon

It’s not on my app either. In fact the Mercedes store says I don’t have the supported hardware. This makes no sense. Can anybody verify the DA4 Digital Light Package is what’s needed for activation?
It's possible that some cars, particularly early builds of the 2024 models, do not include something that is required for the feature to function. I'm not positive, but I think you need options 42U and 43U in addition to the DA4 option. According to the 2024 and 2025 order guide, the DA4 Digital Light package includes option 316 and P35. My car also has 42U and 43U in the build sheet and in the data card I got based on the VIN after delivery.
The base package needed for Digital Light Projections
DA4 - Digital Light Package (includes)
316 - SAE Digital LED headlamps, right-side traffic
P35 - Light Package
I suspect these are also required.
42U - Projection function via headlamps - symbols
43U - Projection function via headlamps - animation

How do you obtain a build sheet to verify 42U and 43U?

I have all of those packages but it still doesn’t show up in the app. Does anyone know if its rolling out later for 2024 models?

I don't think they would roll out the feature/option at different times based on model year. I suspect those that do not have the option in Mercedes-Me may just need to wait for it to roll out to all owners. It's possible they do a phased roll out to owners based on some criteria but doubtful it's the year of the car. I wonder if anyone with a 2024 MY has the option to purchase the projections in the app?
I just checked my car and got a message that the digital light projects are now enabled. I purchased the one-time permanent activation. This is what the menu's look like. I have no idea what the lights actually look like until it gets dark and I can actually see them.
One thing I noticed is that the pedestrian spotlight disappeared from the main digital light menu and is now in the sub-menu of supporting projections. For me, the pedestrian spotlight would often disable itself after a restart even though I enabled it when logged into my profile. Sometimes it would stay enabled and other times it would not. Most of the time it did not. I'll keep an eye on the new settings for digital light projections to see if they have similar behavior. Going to have to drive to the city where there are crosswalks just to see that feature in action.
Wolf, are you still on MBUX E262.3-4975? If not what version do you have. I noticed you have a choice of welcome lights, my car doesn’t, wondering if that was all part of the digital package. Thanks

That doesn’t show up until you’ve activated the projections option.
