I just purchased the digital light package, comparing the photo's that wolf posted, for Welcome/Farewell Projection it has a drop down to select which one you want. In my car this is not a drop down, just an on/off toggle.

Any ideas why?

Estark, did you get a notice on the opening screen that projections has been loaded and installed? If not, it may not have been activated yet.

That is a bit strange. It would suggest that you only have one welcome/farewell projection and therefore no need to do anything but enable/disable it. It is location specific and MB does state that based on the Geo location some features will alter behavior to comply with local laws. Perhaps NY has some restrictions that TN does not.

I am located in NJ. My welcome/farewell projection on my new 2025 E450 is also just a toggle on/off with no further options to choose. Also, like others have posted, on my son's 2024 E350 equipped with the Digital Light package, there is still no option within Mercedes Me app to purchase the Digital Light projection (i.e. the extra $110 extra projection features).

Interesting. I wonder what projection you do have. The star wave or digital rain. Or, maybe something else. It comes on when you unlock the car or when you shut the engine off.

2024 E350 4MATIC (W214)
UPDATE (For people with 2024 MY)
I emailed Mercedes about the issue, and they did confirm that my car does have all the required preinstalled options, but is missing a "license for DIGITAL LIGHT Projection Animations (Service id 788)." Apparently I need to go to the dealership have have this "license" installed.
I will be going to the dealership this Friday, so I will keep you guys updated!
Most likely the same for other 2024 owners.

I am in the same boat as you as I have the Digital Lights package but on Mercedes-me it states cannot be installed due to missing hardware. I am trying to obtain my build sheet and contacting Mercedes for an email to show to the dealer.
I was curious though did the dealer you contacted have any idea about this system having to be installed by them? How were they able to look it up?

I have the digital rain for the welcome lights. Still no ability to select something different. Wolf, thanks for the update on SW level. I tried calling Mercedes me yesterday about this, but after 15 minutes of waiting for someone to answer I gave up.

.
For my son's 2024 E350, there is no option within his Mercedes Me account to purchase the projection features package for $110 (even though the hardware package of Digital Light $990 has been purchased/installed and is part of the build sheet of the car). However, on the Mercedes Me Connect app, nowhere does it state that the car is missing hardware items in order to be able to enable/purchase the package.

I was told that I need a software update by dealer to activate my hardware for the Digital Lights. Then I can purchase the Projections for the 2024 E Class. Was also told that the software update not ready till first quarter of 2025. Qite a confusing situation depending who you talk with.

That's interesting. Did you request an update or did they just do it while it was there for another reason?

A while back I posted about an update on the 2024 I leased where the new version was E263.0-5078 (a.k.a. MBUX 3.2). It would seem yours is a higher version than that now. That was an OTA update that just appeared on the middle screen while I was leaving home one day. In my 2025 that I took delivery on in August, it came with E262.3-4975 and has yet to be updated. I have my car set to not allow automatic updates and require a PIN which will cause it to ask me if I want to update when one is available. I wonder why I haven't gotten a prompt to update. Maybe MB decided to turn off OTA updates due to issues and now require a trip to the dealership. They seem to be very inconsistent with this process based on what I have read on this forum and my own experiences with having two W214 cars.

My 2025 E450 was built on 10/8/2024 and was delivered to me on 11/8/2024 from my dealership. It has version E262.3-4975 and it is still the same version with no automatic over-the-air updates to newer versions so far.

Thanks! I look forward to hearing back from you soon with any updates.
Additionally, may I ask who the email was addressed to? Was it sent directly to Mercedes-Benz customer service, or to a specific department/contact?

I emailed me-connect.usa@cac.mercedes-benz.com
It does take a little bit for them to respond sometimes though.

Update for Digital Light Package for 2024 E Class: Just received email from the escalated team on this issue of software update. The 2024 E Class need a software Freshup 3.1. They think it will be Over the Air during first quarter in 2025. Then you can purchase package and be activated. I also have 42U and 43U and 316 and so on. When we purchased our cars with this feature, it only had the hardware and software was not ready for our MBUX System. It should show up in our app and Screen about this update. I have my dealer watching out too. Happy Weekend.

One thing I'd like to point out - the DA4 package with the P35 lighting package (technically the mid tier lighting system) is $990 and the upgrade to unlock the full features is $110. On other similar models (C, EQE for example) and on very early production cars that have the higher end lighting package, PAX, which effectively comes with the projections already unlocked, costs $1,100. Which means MB isn't actually charging more for for the total then it would have cost if it all came at the start. So that at least is pretty nice, doesn't feel like they're entirely nickle and diming, and there's added flexibility, even if it is a little on the greedy side.

I have a ‘24 E350 that I picked up in June. I emailed the digital extra support people about activation of my digital lights and was told my vehicle “is missing physical, technical, equipment” and therefore the digital light digital extra will not function on my car. My build sheet includes the following:
DA4 DIGITAL LIGHT Package $990
316 DIGITAL LIGHT
42U Preinstallation for projection function for symbols
43U Preinstallation for projection function for animations
P35 MULTIBEAM LED

What am I missing? I can’t get a straight answer from the support people.

Greetings: You are like me for my 2024 E Class. Read above in this area from me-Roadrunner. We have the hardware. We need the software that will b available in first quarter of 2025. Our app and header unit will let us know and dealer must download to our cars to activate system. Then we purchase the package for about $110. which is over the air. Received this report this past Friday from Level 2 Tech Support on this ongoing issue. Just read my details above in this section of the forum.

This is great news and I’m glad you were able to escalate it to a level that had solid answers. I was also getting conflicting information from the Mercedes Me agents.
