Last night I once again checked my lights setting to see if anything changed related to the digital lights. To my surprise I now have the drop down for Welcome/Farewell lights and can now select between the only 2 choices. I have been checking every few days to see if anything changed.

Does this digital extra also unlock Intelligent Headlight Control Plus (IHC+)

From what I can ascertain, IHC+ is not available in the United States. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

I thought IHC+ was approved for the US at the same time the projection function was approved. If not it will have to be activated by a third party coder.

Very great update on your end, and I hope we get this figured out in first q of 25'. I have been going back with Mercedes me on emails and they just recently escalated my issue to a "next-tier" agent, my fingers are crossed I get the same response that you did with confirmation that the dealership needs to install once it releases and I'll be all good to go as then I will have something to show my service advisor.

It does not unlock IHC+. On my W213 and w238, I had it unlocked by a 3rd party in the UK. Worked great. Hopefully they will soon be able to do it on the W214.

I’m working with a guy out of Toronto (MyBenz Coder). Will let you know if he’s able to unlock IHC+

Great. Would be interested as in USA-New Jersey. Word on the street is the Department of Transportation-USA is ready to turn on IHC + as it was approved almost two years ago and now the regulations or details are approved. I also heard from dealer that this IHC will coincide with the turn on of the Digital Light-December 2024.

When we purchased our cars with this feature, it only had the hardware and software was not ready for our MBUX System. It should show up in our app and Screen about this update. I have my dealer watching out too. Happy Weekend.

Thank you for the update, I guess we're just gonna have to wait. Out of curiosity, was your MBUX ever updated over the air since you took delivery? My MY24 is on E056.9-131 but I'm fairly certain people here have much newer versions.

Have not had an Over the Air Update since purchasing auto on July 31, 2024. I have noted this to dealer and Mercedes Me and they say my system module does work. But no map updates. I had v. 5 when car purchased. Had dealer move to v.8 as they had no way to go to v.9 or now v.10. Dealer has registered complaint to their representative. I will try the download for map update for v.10. It seems the Over the Air Updates has nothing to do with using hot spot or a data plan or the data plan on our phones. Go figure.

I have not received any over the updates for my MY2025. Took delivery in September. I have updated the map manually. I also own a W238(2019 E450 Coupe) and it receives over the air map updates. Mercedes Me sends an email that says a map update is available and will be rolled out over the next few weeks. Seems strange to me that the W214 does not receive over the air map updates. The car was delivered with V8, I installed V9.1 and have downloaded V10.2. I will install it when I will be driving the car for about 30+ minutes to allow the install, if you stop the car before it completes the install, it starts over the next time you start the car. In my W238, if you stop in the middle of the install, when you restart the car, it picks up where it was in the install process. The W238 is the older command system, not MBUX.

Hey guys,
I received another update from both the dealership and Mercedes. The dealership was not much help sadly, and all they did was a headlight module update. They were clueless about the update coming in 2025 as well. The response I received from Mercedes was that the update will be coming in 2025, as how Roadrunner mentioned.
Sort of disappointing due to the lack of communication between the dealer and Mercedes.

Yeah, Mercedes has really dropped the ball on this one all the way around. Terrible communication both internal and external.

I find it interesting that they say projections is included in the Pinnacle package.

Agree that there is poor communications between Mercedes Corporation and their dealers on most updates. We did purchase the Pinnacle/Digital Lights, but as mentioned, only the hardware. Software was not ready for 2024-does not make sense as it is operational on 2025 model. Fingers crossed for this update early in first quarter 2025. Will monitor for this forum.

So as others have confirmed we are waiting for the software update "SOP Optimize" or "FreshUp 3.1" to enable compatibility. Attaching my email response below from a tier 2 support.

For those of you stressing over not having the projections. It's a bit underwhelming to be honest. The opening and closing lights are cool but more often than not you don't see them due to things being in front of the car. I park in a garage as I'm sure most of you do and you won't see them. In parking lots, there is not enough room to see them well with other cars and obstacles in the way. Quite rare actually. The lights you get while driving are minor and only happen in very unique circumstances. You get a lane change projection if the car is changing lanes for you. You get an arrow if you drift into the left or right lines. So far, that's it. Considering it's a feature that is only applicable when it's dark, there is not much value there. Not really worth the $110 I paid to enable them IMHO. Maybe there is more i haven't seen but so far it's very disappointing.

Thanks for the honest assessment of the option. I won’t be getting this option because I feel it should be included with the car. I think there’s a problem with my left headlight anyhow because there is a dark spot in the light pattern. I need to mention it to the dealer at the first service. Maybe there are some bad leds or something.

I also have noticed the dark spot with the left light, near the top of the area being light up.

I have the same dark spot. I think it's just the shape of the light pattern and normal. It's only the low beam which makes sense not to blind oncoming vehicles.

I’m wondering if that dark spot is to reduce shining in the rear view mirror of the car in front of you. It’s in about the right spot.

I can also confirm that my Digital Light setting now allows for two options for Welcome/Farewell ligthts (previously only toggle on/off available).

What is Projections, and does it add to lighting?

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is Projections, and does it add function or utility to the car’s digital lighting system?
