In stand corrected, I can start the car, get out, lock the doors. But the car automatically unlocks when the doors are closed. The car keeps running.

Guess the only way is through the emergency key or..um climbing out from the trunk.

Yeah, the engineers are smarter than us. They don't want you to lock your keys in the car no matter how hard you try.

I never take the key out of my pocket so I can't lock it in the car unless I'm there too.

Thankfully the car can't lock both of you and the key in without being able to get out... at least not with these cars, maybe certain electric cars with a malfunctioning electric door handle or something.
