Mercedes Scheduled Service A cost
Just checked around NJ/NY area Mercedes dealerships for the cost of Schedule A service for my son's 2024 W214 E350. Out of the 6-7 quotes I got, almost all of them are $550+, with one at a high of $650 and a low of $365 (this is for E350, for some reason this dealership states that E450 will be higher). As almost everyone here will pretty much agree, these are rather outrageous prices for essentially an oil change. I did not check the cost for Schedule B service, but I would venture to guess that it is at least another $200 more.

I assume the higher price for the E450 is because the 3.0 probably holds a lot more oil (10 qts) than the 2.0 in the 350.
It would be nice if others could post here on the price they paid/or were quoted at their unique location. Mine won’t be due until September.

There are a few good independent shops around here, suburban DC area, that charge about half of the dealer rate. Since my dealer is 2 miles away it may have some goodwill value to let them do it while under warranty. But as long as you have good documentation you should be OK with an independent or even doing it yourself. Outrageous charge for an oil change and short video.
My wife got a card in the mail offering a service A on her 2018 GLC for 300. Maybe they will let me use it. Her car has 20K miles and has not seen the dealer for a few years. No problems.

Several months ago I was in Walmart to have the battery replaced on my Ford Edge Sport. Their price for oil change, oil filter + 5 quarts of Mobil one is $59.95. I asked how much for a Mercedes: $59.95! + $4.30 for each quart of oil above 5 quarts.
Not saying you should do this, but if you decide to, then order from Amazon an OEM oil filter and tell Walmart to use it. The rest of the job is pretty simple: remove plug: drain oil: put plug back in: fill with oil!
You will be out for under $60 + cost of OEM oil filter about $12 from Amazon.

I have used Rallye in Roslyn. There are coupons which will bring the cost down to $225.

I have worked on cars for over 60 years and I recognize a good mechanic by the way they work and their tools. The service manager replaced my battery and did an excellent job. (It was a little complicated and he took over the job)
I tipped him - he was shocked - I guess the average person does not tip at Walmart.
I would use him in heart beat to change oil. You do realize that the person changing the oil at your dealer is not a "certified mechanic": It is an entry level job, usually done by someone with little to no automotive experience.

Generally agree with the above regarding "Express Service" at dealerships. All the dealerships I contacted stated that there is no difference in service level or price whether it is a regular service appointment vs one booked via "Express Service". In this particular reference, the *first* Schedule A service (basically on a new car) likely only involves a oil change, it may be immaterial and safe to get it performed through "Express Service", especially if one is pressed for time and opts for convenience.

To the OP, if you're in the NY/NJ there must be several good independent shops that specialize in Mercedes/European cars. I would search online for the ones that have good reviews and contact them about pricing. I would think the indi shop price for a Service A would be between $150-275.

With the internet and dealers willing to deliver cars to make a sale, even out of state, dealers profit margins on new car sales are much slimmer than even 10 years ago. Dealer's make money on service and CPO cars: both tend to be "blind" items and with regard to service unless you start to make calls, difficult to compare one dealer's price vs. another.
If you do no have an indy shop go to Costco.com and type in auto service: On Long Island there are several shops that have Costco approval.

This is probably true for the E350 and E450. But the 229.51/229.52 oil specified for the E53 is about twice the cost of the oil grade for the non-AMG models. The DIY cost for oil, drain plug, and oil filter approaches $150. I think the E53 Service A cost will be well over $500 at the dealer and at least $300 at an independent shop.

It is interesting that the manual for my E450 lists the oil specification as 229.71 and 229.72. I wonder what the difference is relative to the E53 specifying 229.51 and 229.52.
