similar - salesman called to tell me car is in the country just waiting for “release by Mercedes” - should be soon.

That’s great - seems like it is wholesaled to your dealer so you should have it soon!

Will keep the thread posted on my updates!

My car still seems to be in Baltimore. Waiting for release from Mercedes corporate.

I was told should be released by the end of the month which is coming soon.

It’s been there for like 3 weeks. Been told there are no hold ups aside from waiting for Mercedes to release.

Not sure what they could be waiting for, maybe they want to boost the numbers for next quarter delivery and will wholesale on Oct 1? That would mean ineligible for the 9/30 end of EV credits.

I've asked my contacts for an ETA for y'all and... crickets. I found out that all Edition 1 models destined for the US have arrived at VPCs, with some having arrived in early July! 3 weeks is painful, but not unusual.

Wow! I wonder how the batteries and tires will hold up being almost three months at VPC. Flat spots and dead batteries in the summer heat. Don’t imagine they have covered storage for all these incoming cars.

Yes 3 weeks probably is not out of the ordinary but just feels like an awfully long time.

How has your car been @wdimagineer ? I’m sure all the waiting will be worth it!

When you look at the VPCs on Google maps with satellite view, it's a sea of cars outside. I think the only cars inside are ones getting VPC options installed. Then it's likely back outside to wait.

Not to worry. They have comprehensive steps to keep the cars maintained while waiting. They move them, keep batteries topped up, and in the case of the highest-value cars (like some AMGs and Maybachs), they are in covered storage. Additionally, many exposed parts of your car are covered with protection from the factory, like the hood, window trims, and others.

The Long Beach VPC has a pretty cool history. It was an old building used by the Douglas aircraft company. Lots of indoor space, and I would expect your car is safely parked inside.

My car is a few days away from arriving to Houston in a container. I can't wait to have her back and risk my life daily on Texas roads!

Yep- would have thought they did that. Interesting about the Long Beach VPC!

Looking forward, and keep us posted on how being the only customer car wagon stateside is! Did they ever fix your build issue?

They did! I can't say enough good things about how Mercedes-Benz AG handled the situation. The only negative was that my work schedule meant I couldn't have a do-over of the delivery experience at the Kundencenter, but I'll save that for the next car. They were able to snag a production slot for an internal test drive car and swap over my options within 22 hours of assembly! I was in Austria when the car was dropped off in Munich. My salesman sent me a few photos and did a FaceTime with me to confirm all was in order, and it was picked up for transport not long after. I haven't cleared a non-conforming car through CBP with the current administration, so I am a bit nervous, but the electronic clearance doesn't show any signs of trouble at the moment. We'll see when it lands.

I don’t think a few wagons are going to register a blip on total deliveries. The EV credit has been extended for ordered cars in transit.

Formally known as buildings 80 and 82. All of the commercial jets (MD-11, -80, -90, DC-8, DC-9, DC-10, and B717) were assembled in those two buildings.

I saw a social post from Mercedes-Benz of North Olmsted (BenzsandBowties) highlighting their first wagon arriving. It's an INVENTORY car. Not a sold car. It's pretty disgusting and not a good look for MBZ. Like I've said previously, US product management (and the sales machine in general) is amateur hour. Many customers who are waiting won't get to take advantage of the $7,500 EV bonus. Silly. I'd raise hell with corporate if I were affected.

EDIT: They received 2 today.

I just sent a message to my dealer.

It seems no updates as of yesterday. But given that north Olmsted has received cars for stock, I have no reason to think that I should be much slower than them who are having these cars for stock as an ordered car.

I would think that fulfilling existing orders for already sold cars with P1 designation would be a priority (as the name suggests) for corporate. As you said earlier with cars being sitting at ports since July with the E1s, doesn’t make sense to me why MB would hold them. It’d be very odd if these cars at North Olmsted are the only ones that qualify for the FTC at this point, and not the preorders. You’re absolutely right that it’s poor product management.

is that for the sedan as well? Does the credit come off the purchase price or is that something you claim when filing for taxes? Sorry for the silly questions as I am just trying to get educated.

It also applies to the sedan. If you purchased the car, you can likely deduct $7,500 if the dealer provided you with a sales report and it wasn't already included as a discount. If you leased, MBFS included it as part of the deal. Ask them.

The EV credit can only be taken advantage of through the lease loophole with the E53. The car does not meet the criteria for the purchase credit (even if the buyer does).

I think this discount only applies to leases. Correct me if I am wrong, but if you purchased, the MSRP is above the credit limit. Plus the car was built in Germany. The credit requires that it is built in the US, right? Not sure how the lease gets around that part, but apparently it does.
