We will be away from home and leave the car in garage for three weeks. Should I worry about low battery I have a Noco genius G3500 battery charger. Is it a good idea to attach it to the car and set it to low current mode?

I took my E450 into the dealer today for a software update relative to a low battery CEL issue and was told by the service advisor that anytime the car is going to sit for a week or longer it’s a good idea to put a battery tender on it.

A week or longer???

I have left my 2019 E450, original battery which I replace this fall, for two weeks outside in the winter and the battery was just fine. Suggest you put a full charge into the battery before you leave with a battery charger. You should be fine. But of course there is no harm in hooking up a tender.

Got it. Thanks. And if I remember correctly their is a standby mode (for less electic consumption)?

I did that for about one week back in February. No problem with that. But three weeks sounds a bit long.

I was just relaying what the S A told me yesterday. I’ve left mine for a week or longer as well with no problems until I got a “battery critically low” alert on my app. The advisor said the buzz keeper (?) was not putting the car to sleep, thus a software update. He went on to talk about all the goings on in the background even when the car is asleep and it shouldn’t be allowed to sit for extended periods without charging. He also stressed that the car should always be locked even when in the garage as this helps put it to sleep.
I asked him how they kept all the cars’ batteries on the lot alive and his only reply was that their cars don’t normally sit on the lot very long.
Anyway, I’ll start putting a tender on mine. I’ll be leaving for a week on Sunday and will hook it up. Easy enough to do and can’t hurt…

Did you connect the tender to the car? I'm just trying to do that and I realize that, with the clamps in position, especially the one goes to the anode, I won't be able to close the hood. Am I supposed to leave it in this position? Doesn't look right...

I was able to lay the clamp back enough to close the hood.

Looks nice. The clamps on my charger seem to be bigger, the black one wouldn't lay flat in position, and the red one sticks out and may hit the hood when it is closed.
