Trailer hitch on 2026 0r 2025 E450 all terrain wagon

I have two old E350 wagons and love them, 2011 and 2012 still going strong. Time for a new one. Problem is the new 2026 E450 all terrain wagon does not come with a factory trailer hitch. I am told not to install an after market hitch. I don't plan to put anything very heavy, just a bike rack for my two ebikes. Has anyone been able to put a trailer hitch on a 2025 or 2026 E450 All terrain wagon?

Retrofitting the automatically retractable OEM version would be ideal. See 9:25 -->

Subscribed. Planning on ordering an E53 wagon later this spring and would really like a small (even 1.25 in receiver is fine) trailer hitch for my bike rack. I hate putting bikes on the roof.

MBUSA parts seems to have a trailer hitch compatible with the 2025 E53 sedan (maybe the wagon too?)...

Does this not work?

Don't know if it's for a sprinter, but it's certainly not for an E53.

^ 907 are Sprinter chassis parts. 214 would be appropriate for the E 53. Mercedes does not offer a hitch for the US market.

My car was built with it, and I also noticed that my lower black diffuser/bumper insert is different on the underside. It has an opening for the hook.

The 907-310-23-00 is a genuine OEM Mercedes-Benz trailer hitch designed for 2019–2025 Mercedes-Benz vehicles, particularly Sprinter vans, and is used for rear-mounted towing. It fits models without a step bumper and typically retails for approximately $840–$1,240. It is designed for secure, high-quality towing.

Oh…nevermind…now I see that box in the middle that says it does not fit. It is strange that it came up anyways when searching for E53 parts. I mean, if it doesn’t fit, why does Mercedes show it at all…my bad. Glad y’all are part of this forum and keeping us straight…

If the European cars can get it, can Canada? It might be worth it to order from wherever and have it shipped to the US…

Even if you could get it, it would not work with North American standard accessories (bike racks).

Reached out to Stealth hitch - absolutely great people and great products. Their response:

Mercedes did a refresh for 2021 e-class wagon. We had the 2021 E-450 All terrain wagon in and discovered that Mercedes has a new rear wheel well trim piece that must be removed to access the attachment points for our hitch, and they are now using a onetime use trim piece which is very difficult to get off and cost $380.00 each. There is one on each side, so two new pieces would be required to install our hitch. While the old hitch does fit 2021 and it looks like nothing changed for 2022-23, we do not plan to offer it for the 2021-23 model years due to the difficulty in removing the two trim pieces and the high cost to replace them. We looked at the 2024 next generation E-class wagon and it also has the one time use trim pieces so we will not be developing a hitch for it.

It is also unavailable in Canada. Nearly all NAR (US + Canada) cars use a 2" fixed square hitch receiver and a separate 2" hitch mount and ball. Not the more common swivel hitch found on many EU models. The only exception to this that I know of was a few Volvo models that got a semi-automatic swiveling hitch with a square receiver, specially developed for the NAR market. My sister's XC90 had it.

EU cars use a 50mm (1 7/8”) diameter ball, so US accessories won't fit. Cars with the tow hitch also have additional cooling fans and engine/transmission programming.

It probably wasn't a priority for Mercedes on these models in the US market, whereas it's almost impossible to find a car in the EU without it.

EU hitch on my car:

And then the NAR OEM on this GLE 167:

Do they mean the plastic cladding on the outside? Curious about this.

This is discussed in another thread (maybe AMG forum?). The part does not require destruction to remove; it can be done carefully and reused.

Does that mean the hitch for the pre 2021 can be used on later models then?

I don't know. I'd recommend searching all the forums (not many topics on Stealth Hitch) and finding that other thread about the single use panels and seeing which specific cars were being discussed.

They don't make one either, but said the first person who goes to their Arizona site and would offer their car for a week for them to design one, they are open to that!
