FS: AMG V8 Supercharger

Asking $1375+Shipping: I have for sale a 55k Supercharger which is a great pickup for anyone in the market for a spare, or looking for an excellent project for a non-supercharged engine. For anyone who has looked into these, Mercedes asks almost 4000 dollars for a remannufactured unit, not to mention a 800 dollar core charge, so you're looking at damn near 5000 dollars. I want the buyer to feel as comfortable as possible so I have taken the time to go through the supercharger to the best of my ability and here are some pics and even a video of the unit spinning to show it's condition. I don't have pics of it, but I also cleaned out the roller bearings where the throttle inlet is located and repacked them with mobil polyrex EM grease, a high performance grease typically used in extreme condition applications such as this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyrG9GfJ21U

Here is an example video of me spinning the unit. As you can see it's perfectly smooth, and while it's very hard to hear in this video (that's the entire point, it makes no noise), there is audio.

The rotors look great as you can see with only very mild surface scratches at worst.

Draining and opening the front cover you see that the drive gears are in perfect shape. (This fluid smells like a dieing animal BTW ).

Here we have the inner housing bore where the rotors spin. As you can see again there are only light scratch marks at worst. Since the rotors spin in the same location during every rotation, these are the kind of marks that should not cause any problems.

There is a slightly scored location on one of the intake manifold runner sealing surfaces. I lightly filed this down smooth, and I would not expect any issues at all from it. I used a straight file and filed it parallel across the entire surface and only took and extremely small amount of material away, just enough to make it smooth.

This water line is slightly ovalized but it shouldnt effect performance at all since the hoses are clamped onto it's barbs anyway. It's soft aluminum and should therefore easily bend back to round.

Lastly I am adding in a brand new can of Mobil Jet Oil II which is to be used in the supercharger snout. This is OEM spec fluid, and since the front cover was pulled off, the fluid needs to be replaced. This is an extremely easy task to do, and it's even easier with the supercharger off of the car. Fill the fill port up, install the supercharger, and then open the fill port allowing any excess to spill out, leaving you with a perfect fill. I haven't opened the can as I figured I'd let the buyer do it so that they were fully confident in what fluid was in their supercharger (again, trying to make the buyer feel as safe/comfortable as possible here)

Thanks for the interest so far. No official buyers yet, feel free to make offers if you feel the pricing isn't right, the worst I can say is no.

I have no interest in this part, but I must say this is a nice for sale thread. Very descriptive of everything, lots of pictures, and even a video to go with it. Best of luck, I'm sure this will sell quick.

Thanks, I've been around the performance automotive world for a while and have found that you only get out what you put in, and adding that little bit extra really goes a long way.

While I have zero experience doing it personally, I believe it is possible. If you run some searches on this board I think you'll find the answers you need. Here is an example:

Still for sale, I honestly figured it would have sold by now, I wish this forum allowed you to edit your posts long after they are made as the pricing is no longer 1375.

It appears to be pretty darn close to mint, I've tried to acknowledge the blemishes that Ive found, but you can see that it looks great and spins smoothly. As for mileage, I'm not exactly sure, typically these cars don't see a whole lot of mileage anyway, so I wouldn't expect much judging from the condition. Im selling it simply because I don't have much of a use for it right now. I have good intentions of buying an E55, but I expect to be relocating and selling my house in the upcoming months and don't see that happening soon. Being a car nut I love having a large assortment of parts on hand at any given time (you should see the shelves in my basement/garage). Parts like this come in handy when you start fabricating parts and need to have dimensions and spacing. You'll see that I had a set of E55 exhaust manifolds for sale just a few months ago, that I had for the same reason.

I *think*, and don't quote me here, that it is a straight up bolt-on for that setup. If I am correct the heads are identical to the 55k minus the valvetrain, but the flanges/flange spacing is the same. Again, this is why I said search as I don't want to falsely lead someone, but I think it's a straight bolt-on affair minus any form of clutch control.

CLS 550
Will this work on a CLS550 and what else would I be looking at buying to compensate the SC's power increase? Not the most familiar with SC's and/or what they need in order to be reliable.

Nothing a BFH can't solve haha. I don't believe it's a straight forward bolt-on for the 550 series.

Do you still have the builder name plaque ? They are usually on the top of the SC. I looked at your first pics but didnt see it. I am interested in the plaque.

Why wouldn't you just make an offer if you felt the price was too high? You were already talking to me a few weeks ago about it, and then you stopped responding. I'm not trying to be rude but I just don't like wasting my time with people who are going to toy around. I feel that I've gone well out of my way to show the condition of the charger and even offered to let you see it in person since you've somewhat close by.

It will likely wind up on ebay if I don't sell it soon. Considering every supercharger that Ive seen goes for 2000+, at less than half of that I felt the price was incredibly competitive.

At this point in time 800 is too low. I'm not in that large of a hurry to sell it. Thanks for the offer.
