I assume the different battery capacity is a mistake - that doesn't make sense to me. My assumption is that the 350 4Matic range is on all seasons and the 500 is on summers, and in reality the 500 with all seasons will be 253, the 350 4Matic on summers will be 269, the 350+ on all seasons will be more like 263, but all of that is sort of irrelevent because the way you drive, season, temperature, weather, and how broken in the car is have a huge effect on battery range and in perfect conditions, MBs range estimates are always highly conservative. The EQS Sedan was rated at 350 but routinely people see 400+. In reality, these figures shouldn't be the gospel, they are more like "in not ideal conditions" and on perfect days, the range will be somewhere between these values and the WLTP values. On nice days with conservative driving, I think 300 will be more then achievable on any of these models, and on cold winter days all three models may struggle to reach 200 honestly.

The pricing was announced to be the same a while back, I don't think it has anything to do with the removle of batteries, i think it was just supply vs demand and that they make more profit per car on 350+s.

That chart is from the Quick Reference Guide dated October 16, 2022. I have a version (no longer available online) with the same date that has the same battery for all the models. In addition:
- the preliminary Canadian Order Guide also has them the same
- the UK and France web sites show a mix of battery sizes

The final US and Canadian Order Guides should settle this discrepancy. Here's hoping.

It looks like the embargo has lifted for EQE SUV reviews:

Thomas from Autogefühl says the battery does vary from 89-91 kWh due to different suppliers. 2kWh at 3 miles/kWh is only 6 miles difference though.

I have been checking every single morning, including today, and nothing came up. Guess it literally just came out right now.

It falls into the exact price range I predicted.

Thanks.

The order guide did indicate that the EPA range testing for the 350 4M was conducted with all-season tires, while the 500 4M was using summer tires (range-optimized), so this likely explains why the 500 4M has more range despite having nearly the same battery capacity and using more powerful motors than the 350 4M.

Deciding between 500 and 350.
Was set on getting the 350 thinking it would have better range. But that's not the case, plus need to spend extra for tires as 19" only comes with Summer tires.

500 has Leather, AMG trim and rear axle steering standard. So you are basically paying C$2,600 for the increase in power - much better value than US$1,200 PER YEAR software unlock power boost.
Damn that luxury tax as it makes every extra so much more expensive.

The range was craftily presented: 350 with All Season (253), 500 with Summer tires (269). No information on the 350 range with Summer tires. Also did one of the models used in testing have the running board installed which is supposed to improve air flow and range (by how much is unknown). The Canadian version seems to have 19" wheels (no charge) with only summer tires, while the other have an option for All-season but with an extra cost.

I love features and would like everything, but he value of the rear axle steering is questionable on this size car used a typical North American city with wide roads. Yes it is possibly helpful on the larger wheelbase EQS.

Do some research on leather vs animal friendly MBUX. The results might be surprising.

Rear axle steering is not only useful for low speed U turn or parking, it is also useful in high speed manoeuvre significantly improving stability. That's why many supercars like Ferrari and Lamborghini now have 4 wheel steering.

The reviews about RAX are mixed, and I will pass on it as I have no plans for high speed manoeuvres. My current car has RWS (less than 10% - it is not a Lambo or Ferrari), and is a distraction when reversing into a parking spot, and not noticeable when driving. But the option is there for those that want it. Maybe my opinion would be different if I had 48 hours to test drive one with and one without.

Actually, it is most useful when it is not "planned"
It greatly helps in unexpected evasive manoeuvre, like the infamous "Elk test" (or Moose test).

Still no EQE SUV section... sigh

IMHO rear wheel steering is the answer to curb rash and the best reason to get the 500. Makes maneuvering around parking lots and drive-through windows so much easier. If you want HP just get a Kia EV6 GT and save yourself $40K.

I was just comparing the order guides for both sedan and SUV - anyone notice that the sedan has higher ground clearance than the SUV? Of course, with the much shorter wheelbase, the SUV is much more capable "off road" if you will, but I still found that interesting.

A general EV discussion area would be nice too to help reduce the number of duplicate/cross posts.

Yes, but this forum is lacking a lot of sections.... we don't have a CLE forum and this car has been discussed all over the place

EQE SUV 350 4Matic and 2024 Tesla MX LR
I'm a Newbie to MB and just bought my wife an EQE SUV 350 4Matic in early June. I've owned a series of Tesla Model S starting in 2015. I'm puzzled with the range estimates the car shows - which are usually much higher than the rated range (253 miles) of the car. As most know you never believe in the range figures of Teslas and actual range is always less than rated. What is your experience with EQE SUV range estimates?

In short, MBs always underpromise on range, I generally get more than the initial range estimate. My car has now adapted a good bit upward on the estimate and seems right on.

hi

i am looking to purchase a 350 EQE SUV 4WD and although the range is estimated to be around 260 I was curious what the real works range is. I have noticed that some people talk about the range shown on their GOM (guess o meter) I was curious as to the miles per KW. For example I have a Mustang Mach E- battery capacity is 91 and the range I get is between 3.0 and 3.4 depending on usual factors so I can get anywhere from 270-315 miles on a full charge.

and is the GOM accurate?

the dealer told me the range shown in ads is at 80% but I don’t buy that, on the other hand I see people mention they are getting around 300 miles on a full charge.

any feedback would be helpful

thanks

Most of my feedback centers around EQE Sedan. It's a 350V4. The EPA ratings are very, very conservative. The car easily exceeds it. The range forecast depends on two things: driving style and temperature. I've seen mine literally change its forecast as the temperature changes. As I have a '23 sedan, it doesn't have heat pump, so it's a bit less efficient in heating the cabin than any EQE SUV, as they all have heat pumps. But, it still has a waste heat loop, and despite lacking the heat pump, it still keeps quite a bit of its range in the cold temps. Though I like to give the accelerator a good push from time to time, or during a merge, I tend to drive very conservatively. My projected and "max" ranges are always identical. The car has a measurement for what it thinks you will get vs the theoretical max, and because I go easy on the throttle and use no-regen mode (allows coasting before favoring regen on brake pedal), it always ends up being the maximum theoretical range according to the car. All that's to say that while on a best-case day, I'll see a range forecast of about 354 miles (again, a 4Matic car). The actual is probably closer to 320-330, though I've never taken it up on the actual range. The battery has a ~90.6 kWh battery, and on efficient days with road trips I'm getting 3.5 to 3.6 mi/kWh, so it stands to reason I could reach 326 miles. Still, that's far higher than the 270 or so miles EPA rating.

My dad's EQE SUV also greatly exceeds it's EPA rating, which is around 259 miles, I believe. It's a 350X4. I think those cars have a slightly smaller battery in SUV form. It's still easily capable of exceeding 300 miles on a charge. Hope that helps!

Exactly what I am looking for. Thanks. I really am not interested in a car that gets substantially less than 300 miles in range.

I drive from NY to cape cod , about 250 miles and when in Florida from Boca Raton to Tampa also about 250 several times a year. The 300 range gives me the ability if needed to make the trips without charging, depending on weather etc.

i am also looking at the IX 50, range is easily 300 but looks are so- so and I didn't love the screen although it has gotten excellent reviews.

when on the highway I generally travel around 67 mph to get maximum range.

much appreciated
