EQE SUV A/C questions?

One of the things we like most about owning an EV is having the A/C, or heating, on when we are parked. Better still I can leave my wife in the car, in the cool, or warmth, whilst I go for a walk.

My question is does the EQE SUV allow me to do this easily? I know some EV’s want to "turn off" as soon as the driver leaves the vehicle.

To be clear, I would leave the vehicle “on” and would not lock it at all.

Another related question is. I saw a Mercedes charging video and it said to “turn the vehicle off before charging”. That makes no sense to me as clearly the vehicle can not be fully off or how could it charge, display important charging information, etc? Anyway, that aside if you do have to “turn in off” does that mean no heat, A/C whilst you charge?

Yes, there is a pre-entry climate control option. It's called "pre-entry" but can be run at any time. And yes, you do "turn off" the car by hitting the Start/Stop button. This makes the vehicle safe to exit. Once you do so, you can turn on the climate control separately from the MBUX screen (has its own icon that appears), or you can enable it in the Mercedes Me Connect app.

FYI: You can connect the charger with the car while it's in "Ready" mode, but it'll disable it from being able to drive. It's just a safety mechanism to be sure you don't start moving unexpectedly. It also helps those who are coming from ICE vehicles to have a sense of familiarity when moving to an EV platform. Thus, safety in all aspects.

Sounds like the concept of off/on is very different in the EQE to the Model Y. The off/on in the EQE seems more, as you said, about make the car safe, can’t drive it away etc. The climate control, and other functions still work but it’s not going anywhere until someone presses on again. Do I have that about right?

Really appreciate the help and advice.

That’s great, appreciate the help!

Out of interest, what is the power button to the right of the button you highlighted?

Happy to help! We're a good community of enthusiasts. The power button turns on the infotainment while the car is "off" so that you can use it.

Great, that’s exactly what I was hoping.

So if I turn the vehicle off all I need to do before exiting, assuming my wife is with me, is adjust the a/c or heat and turn the infotainment on and she should be all set.

BTW, I never leave her that long, didn’t want to give the impression I’d be gone for hours 😊

Yup! Just push the pre-entry climate control button and it'll activate heat or AC as appropriate, and then turn on the infotainment if desired.
