How To Keep The EQS Running With No One In The Driver’s Seat?

I know I am missing something obvious and need some help here. This is on a 2023 580 SUV. My wife and I were out today and needed to stop at the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. It was 101F in the parking lot and with her health it takes forever to get her in and out of a vehicle so I thought it best to leave it running with the AC on and go into the pharmacy quickly. I even left the key in the vehicle and my wife said it stopped in about two minutes. How can you keep a EQS running with the AC on without someone in the driver seat for a longer period? Help appreciated. 😊

P.S.- Told my wife about Tesla’s Dog Mode and she gave me a dirty look…

Try putting it in neutral with the parking brake on.

I've turned the vehicle "off" and then ran preconditioning mode on the app

That would be the safer method.

No Mercedes yet
You don't need to use the app. Instead, turn the vehicle off, but before opening the door to exit it), press the 'fan/ventilation' icon that's at the bottom left of the center display (next to the climate control). That will keep the climate control on for up to 30 minutes or so, while you leave the vehicle.

Problem is, isn't there a requirement to have the doors locked I guess with the key and therefore alarm is activated same goes with motion sensor?

I found this solution somewhere and it works. Put the gear shift in Neutral, Press the Emergency Brake, then fasten seat belt.

Thank you for pointing out this feature. I tried it yesterday and it worked as you described when I left my wife in the SUV while I went into a store for ten minutes. I would like to point out that it is necessary to set the temperature before enabling the feature and leaving your car since the passenger left behind will not be able to adjust the temperature level.

I might be wrong but if I remember correctly, just open the door, screen will come back and you should able to adjust it (without key)

I did a 2 hour trial run on the solution that I posted earlier and it works, (1) Push gear shift up or down to "N", (2) Press "Electric Park" located on lower left . A red "park" will appear in Driver"s Display,(3) Fasten seat belt and close door. Try it You'll like it....

I did this when I first got my EQS an over a year and a half ago. There was no need to fasten seatbelt.
I haven’t done it since but maybe there was a software update. Why do you need to fasten seatbelt?

I don't know why. This was solution I found. It worked and I didn't try without seatbelt fastened.
