Acceleration fee
Is it worth getting the 350 4mafic and pay the acceleration fee ($1200/yr) or get the 500 which is 8K more to base price?
As much as this new subscription makes me angry it seems that it might make sense if you are leasing the car or keeping it <5 yrs.
If you're coming from ICE (Non-AMG) then it's hard for me to believe you wont be impressed by the acceleration of the 350 with no acceleration subscription. I have a Volvo S60 2.4T and I test drove a EQE 350+ sedan and was very impressed with the acceleration. Statistically, I don't think the 0-60 mph is much different than my Volvo (7.6 seconds) but it sure felt like it was due to the increased, instantaneous torque offered by the 350+. If you value range over performance, then definitely go for the 350 with 19" wheels over the 500. I have ordered an EQE SUV 500 4Matic because it was what I had to do in my market in order to get the HyperScreen. If I had been able to get the HyperScreen with the 350+, I definitely would have gone that route, as HyperScreen and Range are more important to me than performance.
Edit: I, too, hate this whole subscription model!
The subscription does make sense for leasing, even though with a lease, you're also not technically paying for the full price difference because of the residual value. Electrek also said they talked to a Mercedes rep who claimed they will eventually make a permanent option available.
The EQE is a heavy car and you certainly feel the mass when you drive.

That said, I don't at all support this.
Remember that most of the components are designed for EQE SUV 500's more powerful output.
So the increased power of software unlock should be well within the components tolerance.
