What I like about my EQE SUV

The 2024 models will be out before they make an SUV subforum for the EQE but anywho... Since I've been accused of being too negative, here are the top five favorite things I like about my EQE 500 4MATIC SUV, in descending order of fondness:

#1 The ionizing HEPA air filtration and aroma therapy package (or whatever the official MB name for it is). Air quality is surprisingly bad here in New Caney thanks to all the people burning brush/trees on an almost daily basis. There's also a sewage treatment plant on the way to my house and my Genesis would automatically turn off the recirculate function whenever I enabled auto air conditioning. My Mercedes keeps recirculate on as long as the particulate count is too high.
#2 The torque. 633 lb-ft available at 0 RPM is plenty for daily driving. I wouldn't mind some more HP though, just for bragging rights. Kia EV6 GT people are like snobs about it.
#3 Lane change assist. Was absolutely horrible in my GV80 with HDA2 (later models only had HDA1 due to chip shortage) and there was no way to turn it off. Mercedes lets you turn it off but it works so well I don't want to.
#4 Rear wheel steering. EQE 500 SUV has a shortened wheelbase combined with 10 degree rear-wheel steering making it one of the most maneuverable SUVs money can buy. Maybe even the MOST MANEUVERABLE SUV money can buy but I haven't actually done the math for all SUVs on the market so..
#5 Emerald Green Metallic color. Why are so many Mercedes black, white and grey? I guess "neutral"/neutered colors are in these days. The dark green on mine is understated yet elegant.

Interesting list with some things I would not have thought about for a Top 5. I expect I will most relate to #4 when I eventually get mine.

Me too. I wish they have that color option on the EQE sedan.

My dad has an X295, it's also a superb vehicle. The twilight blue color is gorgeous on that platform. And the range performance is pretty fantastic.

The more I drive it the more I like it. I'd really like to try off-road mode but with 21" AMG rims that seems like a bad idea. Smallest it came with were 19" which still seems like not enough sidewall. But Mercedes was showing them off to the press with what looks like ~17" rims and all-terrain tires (26:58 in video below). I'd love to buy those for mine and put dedicated summer tires on the 21s:

Is that colour close to nautical or lunar blue by any chance?

It's pretty close to Lunar Blue. It's fairly dark, these pics were taken on a very bight day, so it looks a bit lighter than in person, I think. Photos attached.

The blue looks nice and you probably won't notice minor imperfections in the clear coat with a lighter color. I can already see swirl marks from the free car wash I got at the dealer and my cat has left a few hairlines from jumping up and down off my car. I think I like your smaller rims too. My 21" AMG rims just don't look right on an SUV. They'd look better on the sedan IMHO. Plus you probably get 15-30 miles more range because they're more aerodynamic.

Those blue and green paints are beautiful colors and a great alternative to the German "gray scale" from white to black. I'm looking forward to adding Sonora Brown to the mix soon!

This one looks exactly like mine, right down to the yacht wood. Even the window sticker total looks identical. I wonder how many they made like that? Weird!

Dealer do random orders though.. so it was surprising it ended up being identical to yours.

It was so spooky I double checked... they're clones. I find it hard to believe two dealers separated by thousands of miles would pick EXACTLY the same everything including color. Maybe there was an early production run of emerald green 500s in top trim or sumptin', I dunno. Weird I tellz ya!

When new models first come out, the first batch of vehicles are specced by Mercedes Benz, not customers or dealers. So they usually have a bunch of "standardized" configurations which the first batch of cars are. So liley both of these cars are from that batch. I believe for the EQE SUV, if the last 6 digits of the vin are below serial number 6000 or so, it's probably a MB specced car.

Didn't know that and it explains it well, makes sense. Thanks for the information.

Pretty sure that's not right, or it's a much lower number. The last six digits of my custom-spec'ed EQE SUV start with 013; the last four with 348 . Spec'ed and ordered in March, built in May, arriving in next 48 hours according to dealer. 013

Well, I also noticed the purchase order numbers are fairly close, so they were ordered around the same time. And I found the "window sheet" from plant #1 in my car so I know it rolled off the line on 3/24. Most likely the first batches were made for Europe is my guess. That's probably why all the early reviews were in Portugal. So maybe the first US models start at a higher VIN number. Then again, maybe I'm overthinking it and they both just ordered the default options config for a 500 in Pinnacle trim and the color is just a coincidence. It is weird though...

If your vin number is in the 13000s then it's definitely well passed the "showroom unit" MB spec phase. The earliest US cars I've seen that weren't pre production were around 1000 or 1100, which was December 2022 production. At least through the first 4000 if not 6000 (I'm not saying 3-5 thousand US cars, just all of the cars built within that number that are US spec cars which is probably in the high hundreds or around 1000) were these MB specced cars, showroom units, maybe with a few custom orders slipped in. That was until around March production, maybe early April. Production has now increased rapidly, and a dealer in NY that posts their incoming cars as soon as they get a vin number already has cars with serial numbers in the 17000s incoming. Thise were probably first week of June production. So US cars I've seen in the 9000s, 13000s, 17000s, etc. are where custom orders or dealer orders are being allocated and built up to now. Hope that clears things up.

I would like to see it in real life. I thought i saw one in the last model year of W205 ( C class). I like that color. I thought MB would offer that color in the EQE sedan. But the green color for what ever the code name is , only offered in the EQE SUV.
