Panoramic sunroof shade noise
I'm now in my second EQE and in both (2023, 2024), when opening the sunroof shade for the pano roof, there is a loud clicking sound. This does not happen when closing the shade. It's the same sound on both of my EQE's. Has anyone else experienced this, or am I just unlucky twice? It sounds like the shade is binding in the track.

I haven't had this noise on either my sedan or SUV. I will say that on my sedan, I'll hear one slight slipping noise as the fabric, which was either under tension or rolled up, moves as it's being rolled open or closed. But no clicking like that on either car. Is it consistent, indicating it's tied to a gear, or is it a-periodic?

It's consistent, each time I open the shade, it clicks/binds in the same spot just for a moment. I'm taking the car to the dealer today for an unrelated issue, I'll mention it and see what they say.

I’ve had this problem with two clicking noises only when opening the shade. The sound was coming from the rear sunshade.
Mercedes tried to lube the mechanism but it ended with the rear sunshade being replaced under warranty.

Yeah, I also have one click or so when it closes, it's either that the fabric has stretched or the roller is tensioning unevenly. I haven't worried about it much.

Can’t be fixed as it’s a complete unit. The roof liner needs to be removed to get this done. Thankfully it’s a separate part from the front sunshade.unit.
Now it works as it should with no noises.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually forgot to mention it as the car was in for something else (module software updates due to random errors on gauge cluster screen.) I will bring it up next time I am at the dealer, good to know it's not "normal."
