Quote: Nothing has been released on time really, so don’t take the “second half of 2022” to heart yet. Dealers are still waiting for SL’s and C-Class’ too.
Which is exactly why we're taking delivery on our iX when it arrives (July?). I figure we can drive it for several months and still get most of our money back selling it privately to someone who doesn't want to wait a year for a new iX. Have you seen what used Tesla Model 3's and Model Y's are going for? Crazy!

Three years ago we ordered a loaded GLE 450 when the order banks opened, six months later no ETA from the dealership so we dropped out and bought a BMW X7. So what you are saying about timelines is true. The only thing that makes me think the EQS SUV could make it to dealers by the end of this year is to hedge BMW orders for their iX. You know MB don't want to lose sales to BMW. Reports say their new battery plant is up and running and production could start this summer. I see MB doing whatever they can to start pumping out EQS SUV's to fill the growing EV-SUV market. One thing is for sure, Tesla's grip on the EV market will start to loosen as more and more manufacturers begin selling their EV's. And I for one am happy to see MB jumping into the EV world, especially with their plan to go fully electric by 2030. Look for other manufactures to adopt a similar strategy.

If they want to hedge the IX they need to get the EQE SUV to dealers sooner. An AWD EQS is going to cost about $40k more than an AWD IX. My loaded IX 50i comes in at $105k. The base price of the EQS SUV will be at least $135k I would guess and then when you option it to an equivalent level it could easily be $145-150k.

In my thinking, we shouldn't compare the 5-seat iX with the 7-seat EQS SUV. Not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison. The yet to be released EQE SUV would be more equivalent to the iX and should carry a more affordable price. When BMW comes out with an iX7 based on their new i7, then you'll have a fair comparison to the EQS SUV, again IMO.

We're definitely buying the iX when ours comes in (July?) but if both were available in July, I'd definitely go with the more luxurious and better looking EQS 580 SUV. It would be worth the added cost but that's just me. Others will opt for the iX and save the money and be quite happy. I'm sure my wife and I will enjoy the iX for however long we have it. To each his own.

No, and no DOG yet either. Hopefully next month we'll be able to place an actual order.

The MB press release has 64 pages of highly detailed information on the most minute details of the new EQS SUV, and not a single mention of performance (0-62 and such). And only one mention of raw "engine" KW(HP)/torque figures. My, how far we've regressed from the old days of car announcements.

I absolutely love this spec. I have a nautical blue 580 sedan on order, but I think I’m going to swap it with an alpine grey 580 suv with AMG-Line exterior and interior. The green is beautiful too. Can’t wait for ordering to open up.

I agree, it looks beautiful in Alpine Grey with that interior. I may order this exact spec myself. Looking forward to seeing the DOG.

I added a link to the post above.
Note that it's the global press release. MBUSA has their own brief one here. Some colors and features won't make it to the US.

only thing I know is interior:

“The interior is available in seven coordinated color combinations – including Neva Grey / Sable Brown and Macchiato Beige / Space Grey. Trim options include an all- new innovative magnolia wood trim that is laser cut and embedded with aluminum Mercedes-Benz stars” Sedan has 10 total interior options fwiw

dog early may, so we’ll know more soon

Is it 7 color combinations, but 3 colors of leather seats like in the EQS? or are they offering a wider selection of colors like on the S-Class.

Kyle Conner of Out of Spec Studios was invited by MB to their Alabama plant for a ride-along in the EQS SUV several weeks ago. The video was posted here. In a podcast yesterday he mentioned that he was taken into their production facility to see the actual assembly line for the EQS SUV and said they are assembled on the same lines as the GLE and GLS. He also said they are pumping out a lot of them and he didn’t think they were just prototypes so MB may be building demos for their dealerships. Hopefully.

Think there is a good chance first vehicles delivered when expected. Built in Alabama big plus for us

There were some uncomfortable moments in that video Joe!

Was hoping Kyle would have an SUV video but apparently didn’t participate in intro process. Oh well. His sedan review video is excellent and worth watching. He loves that vehicle

Unrelated : surprised vehicle wasn’t at Ny auto show

He has opinions like he should and said he would pick the iX over the EQS SUV. What's interesting about that comment is he has yet driven the EQS SUV and in his ride-along he said several times "I think this is the one" so he's a bit all over the place with his comments at times. I take all that with a grain of salt as he seemed a bit irritated in the podcast for some reason. He's human and gets a pass. When Kyle and other reviewers get to actually drive the EQS SUV in 450+ and 580 variants we'll get real-world feedback. His complaint about the battery system not having a heat pump makes no difference if you'll be charging at home 99% of the time.

They'll definitely need to build a lot of these, my dealer has already received many calls with interest in the EQS SUV, this will easily be the most popular EQ-model until the EQE SUV is put into production.

I'm referring to some of his comments on the latest InsideEVs US podcast. He just seemed to be a bit irritated for some reason. The way he responded to comments and questions from the other guys on the podcast. Maybe just a bad day, we all have them.
