EQS SUV reached 24000 mile mark on 1st year anniversary
Overall I am happy with my EQS 450 4Matic SUV after exactly one year of ownership. At an average of 2000 miles per month I will burn through warranty in just over two years. Fortunately, my SUV has only spent two days in the shop for the complimentary 20K mile maintenance and two warranty repairs. First year depreciation of $2 per mile is really the only disappointing aspect of being an early MB EV adopter.
The average consumption through four Northeastern Seasons was 38.6 kWh per 100 miles or 2.59 mpkWh. Not great, but just under the 285 mile EPA estimate for a full charge.
23700 miles of the 24095 total miles were driven on the original 21” Eagle Touring RunOnFlat tires. These tires are now down to about 4/32” of tread depth. If I don’t sell the 21” wheels soon I will try to get another 2000 miles out of these tires next Summer. I changed the wheels and tires to 265/50-R20 yesterday and I am hoping the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 tires will have a longer life with the same mpkWh.
The brake rotor and pad wear is extremely low. There is virtually no noticeable wear since I checked the brakes at 18000 miles. At 24000 miles front rotors are still 32.9mm and rear rotors are 21.8mm. Pads are 8mm and 7mm for front and rear respectively.
During the first 20000 miles and 10 months of ownership I routinely saw error messages including the dreaded Battery Malfunction and Don’t Tow warnings. Since the dealer applied several control module updates when the car was in the shop for the 20K mile maintenance, I have not seen a single warning message.
I am hoping that the next year of ownership will be just as uneventful.

My overall average after 24K miles was 2.6 mpkWh. From trip to trip the actual efficiency varied considerably depending upon speed, temperature and change in altitude. Worst was 1.6 mpkWh and best was 3.7 mpkWh. Your EQS sedan probably does significantly better.

There has been no noticeable downward trend in capacity or efficiency over 24K miles. I don’t see anything I said in the first post above that would give you that impression. No issues with air suspension (all EQS chassis have it). IMHO ride quality improved after downsizing from 21” to 20” tires.

I weighed the 21" wheel and tire last year at 86 pounds. I will try to weigh the 20" wheel and tire this week and report back. I only have about 800 miles on the 20" tires. I am seeing an average mpkWh of 2.8 with the 20" tires compared to 2.6 for the 21" tires. But, I don't think comparing the 20" tires with 800 miles to the 21" tires with 24000 miles is a good indicator of the actual differences.

I'm impressed that you got 24K mile on the Goodyears... We have the staggered wheels and we are at just 7.5K miles and past the wear indicators. Dont think it will make it 12K. Thanks for the write up we are coming up on our 1 year anniversary.

If you use the ASA and LKA features, then you may wear the rear brake pads in 25K miles, but I doubt it. I suspect that the extra brake warranty would only apply if the brake pad warning message is displayed.

My 20" tires and wheels weigh 71 pounds. The original 21" tires and wheels weighed in at 86 pounds. I am getting slightly better mileage than my 12 month average with the 21" tires. But after less than 1000 miles on the 20" tires it's too early to conclude that the 20" tires have improved the mpkWh. I will report back after 12000 miles or so.
