When you factor in every subsidy to every entity involved with the US EV industry, all costs, all hidden charges, the cost to operate an EV is the equivalent in dollars per gallon ( of gasoline) of $17.33 per gallon. This is according to the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Real costs are never realized when something like wind, solar, and other pipe dreams are heavily subsidized.
Once these subsidies start wearing off, and not renewed, it’s going to be eye opening.

The cost per kWh is entered manually in the Mercedes Me app for your home charger. You can find this setting by selecting the vehicle icon, My Charging Stations, and the pencil icon to edit the cost per kWh for your Home charger. Your rate is probably set to $70/kWh instead of a more realistic rate like $0.15/kWh.

The Texas Public Poilicy Foundation is not a balanced or respectable institution of learning. It is a right-wing think tank. What their perspective omits is that if you take the cost of global warming and divide it by the number of gallons of gasoline sold in the USA you will end up with a similarly high number.

You are saying that moving to more sustainable technology adds cost to transportation. But failing to do so also is a cost of transportation. As a life-long non smoker who has a lung condition likely caused by low environmental air quality, I can tell you personally I don’t give a **** whether you have to pay more to clean up the air you polluted. You better do it or someone some day will lock you up.

And if you think this is hyperbole. Listen to the CEO of this movie at the start of the trailer. Better yet watch the movie.

Global warming is real and it's a shame that it's been politicized. But fact of the matter is the war in Ukraine has done more to harm the environment than all the gas cars on the planet combined. I imagine rebuilding Gaza is going to require a lot of greehouse gas emitting stuff too. So mandating I drive a vehicle with an annoying auto stop/start button is an insult to my intelligence. I'm not the problem, duh gubmint and all the corrupt AIPAC puppets who run it are the problem.

Operating an EV will eventually cost more than ICE. Gotta pay Taxes to support our Roads and Bridges and Charger Infrastructure once EVs become the Norm and not an Outlier. My old company General Motors as well as others will also make more Profit per Vehicle than it ever did the last 110+ years with ICE Production. I CALL IT PROGRESS. As a nearly 65-year old won't get psyched about EVs until they make Flying Robo Taxis or High Performance Electric Motorcycles like in TV series West World or Movie Blade Runner 2049.

Always wanted to Fly Navy Jets for the Thrills and a Career...only became an Engineer by default after found out later was color blind at Birth and my Rich Girlfriend got my NROTC Scholarship at age 17. I did attend her Graduation and Navy Commission in 1982 and later her Pearl Harbor Duty Station in 1985. Later supported Navy High Energy Laser R&D and Navy F/A-18 Hornet and Advanced Hawkeye programs in Los Angeles before early retirement as an Engineer in 2015.

Got my first ICE in 1985 with my Suzuki and Honda CRX. Up until then relied on NYC Mass Transit Buses and Subways. In Retirement instead of driving to NYC from DC will take AMTRAK. It was a fun run during the best of times and now worst of times...
