Car built but where is it?

My dealer informed me the car has been built but still not received in the dealer’s inventory. Their system shows a delivery date in the past. He has the VIN and shared it with me. Where could the car be? Is there someone I can call up to have them look up the VIN since the dealer is unable to do that?

So I call customer support with the VIN and was passed around a bit until I reached someone who sounded annoyed by my call - he said the dealer should deal with this and their manager should have access to the same info he sees. He did confirm he could see my order and confirmed the name and details matched but he obviously wasn’t happy to be talking. Is that typical? I’m hoping not for a $150K car.

Sadly, yes. Mercedes communications on custom orders is absolutely terrible. Getting a cooperative dealer can help but Mercedes corporate is completely opaque to even the dealers.

Did you ever receive your vehicle? We purchased a 580 back in October of last year and were told the completion date was set for mid-February. We are still waiting for the vehicle to be transported. It was supposedly completed over three weeks ago, but we were told that Mercedes is having transportation issues. Not sure what is going on, but we're starting to lose patience.

The dealer received the car about a week after my post and I have the car. The car didn't come with a title, that arrived in the mail just yesterday so am yet to get the car registration completed.

Congratulations! Hopefully, my car will arrive soon.

I’ve been monitoring Mercedes' inventory since my car was supposely completed, and it seemed like they were pushing out cars daily. However, in the last week or so, no new vehicles (EQS 580's) have been added to their website, which I find a bit odd. It seems like there’s an issue they’re not disclosing, but there’s nothing I can do except wait it out. Sucks!

If its any consolation my car never showed up in the inventory on mbusa either. I suspect custom builds earmarked for a specific customer aren't part of the open inventory available for everyone to pick from.

I had a custom-built 2024 EQS 580 that we picked up in late August last year. We owned the car for a little over a month when Hurricane Helene came and flooded our vehicle, totaling it. Our dealer provided us with the VIN, and the vehicle did appear on the Mercedes inventory and dealership website. I'm surprised your vehicle did not show up.

I custom ordered a 23 EQS 580 a couple of years ago. I’ve owned several Mercedes and have always tracked the car from the port in Germany till the port in Baltimore. I had some trouble tracking my EQS across the Atlantic, and was shocked when it said it arrived at the port in San Francisco. Called the dealer and they said same thing but don’t worry it must be a mistake. It was and shortly after was in the inventory at the Baltimore VPC. Unfortunately for me it was the first run of model year 23 and they wouldn’t release it for 5 months till they got rid of the 22 models.
