Agree. Interior feels more like an A-class or C-class in terms of space. Reminds me of the Fisker Karma - big car with interior of a sub-compact.

Interesting article on the EQE.

Smaller than EQS but with S-Class levels of interior space.

4 door with traditional trunk. Not lift back like EQS.

Thanks for posting!
Unfortunately exactly what I feared. They removed the sleek body shape from the vision and created a bubble hatchback. I really want to like this car and it maybe it has many redeeming qualities technically and on the interior but this is as unsexy as it gets.

I’m still going to get it. It’s not great but it’s better as an overall package than anything else out there,

The thing that is a bit clumsy is the extra panel between the front door and the front fender. I really don't like that.

Interestingly the EQS vision also had that panel but it was more subtle because the window line intersected the hood like a normal car. Here the window line is too low, which creates a clumsy design issue at the base of the A pillar.

I’m still thinking W223. I don’t want to have to worry where I’ll be able to charge it or how long it will take. Maybe in five or six years the charging infrastructure will have been significantly improved. And, I got one of the last 2020 S560’s, so I’m good for a few years. I want to see all the bugs out of these new cars before I jump in.

It's not nearly as cool as the concept but it's not as bad as I feared. Any ideas on price and length?

Looks like it doesn't even belong there.

I don't like that one. I hate the anonymous styling and the weird interior with 2 different colors of seats.

Well, In my opinion Mercedes has done a terrible job in styling across the board. A S Class Sedan does not look much different externally from the E Class, C Class and even the A Class Sedan. They are all generic clones.

The W221 S Class was a unique looking car in the lineup and my head still turns at the sight of a nice, clean one. The S Class vehicles, including the EQS, SHOULD be of a unique design, but MB doesn’t seem to have any appetite for creating beautiful vehicles anymore. Come on guys, we know you can do WAY better.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love the aesthetics of the current line-up.

Plus another reason I won't buy a Lucid is the Saudi ownership. I'm not putting money into the hands of an oppressive regime.

LOL, The vast majority of products or their internal parts sold worldwide are made in China. Then again they aren’t a bit oppressive. 😊. One would have to live in a cave eating roots and berries not to support some oppressive regime in some way or another. You do know some Mercedes parts are Chinese made?

I have a feeling the EQE will be the better looking sedan. While some areas are still hard to picture due to the camo wrap, the EQE features a longer nose (albeit still not fully cab-back, but less cab-forward than the EQS) and doesn't look to be as stretched out as the EQS is, with more sleek proportions.

The EQS SUV may also look good, as it will likely be more conventional in its design.

China and Saudi Arabia are not the same thing.

And buying Chinese parts (very low margin) is different to buying an EV from a shareholder that will make billions given the multiples.

Not that I’m surprised that you laugh at my reticence towards giving profits to oppressive regimes. You Americans are the people who maintained slavery longer than any other country, and to this day continue to oppress people based on the color of their skin.

I doubt the EQE has a longer nose, it just looks that way because the cabin is shorter (it’s an effect of the proportions). Agree about the SUV. Looks a lot like a GLE.

Of course, you are right, but I really do try to buy products made someplace other than in the land that gave us this horrible, CCP virus. I happily pay more for items made anywhere other than China. As for the frigging Saudi owned car company, there is no way in hell I would buy one.
