I am petty sure that when they designed in the feature 5 years ago they didn't plan on covid turning over the apple cart.
It has to be a nightmare trying to bring out a new car right now. "We shipped it but it's in a container parked off of the coast.
There re 68 ships in front of it right now. or we're going to be making those chips for you in Q4 of '22.

does it only have the top two light functions, or does it have all of them? Those bottom ones I thought had previously not been legal in the US. I wonder if the agencies that regulate it finally allow them…

 

There have not been changes to the regulations yet.
What sticks out to me is this one:
Adaptive Highbeam Assist - Highbeam function automatically turns on and off based on ambient light and surrounding vehicles
This is still being limited in the US. In other countries, the highbeam selectively turns off parts of the beam as to not blind other drivers. In the US, the entire highbeam is switched off instead.

There may be other features of DIGITAL LIGHT that aren't available in the US, but that would require some more research.

The following credit codes for missing equipment may be issued on EQS models for MY22.

• D9A Missing Standard Valet / Beginner Driver Mode - these driver modes can limit acceleration and top speed when enabled
• D9B Missing Standard Ventilated Seats - For vehicles equipped with heated seats only
• D9C Missing Standard 10-Degree Rear Axle Steering - For vehicles equipped with 4.5-Degree Rear Axle Steering only
• D9D Missing Air Balance Functionality - For vehicles affected by the semi-conductor shortage, where the fragrance function is missing from Air Balance Package.
• D9H Missing 110V Home Charger Cable - For vehicles affected by semi-conductor shortage, where the charging cable was omitted from the factory.
• D9I Missing Standard AMG Line Exterior Package - EQS 580 4MATIC only - DG1 Package is standard on the EQS 580 4M. Some early production cars were equipped with standard body styling.
• D9J Missing Standard 21" Wheels - EQS 580 4MATIC only - 21" wheels are standard equipment on the EQS 580 - early production cars were equipped with 20" wheels recieve this credit.
• D9Y Missing Automatic Comfort Doors - A small number of vehicles have all of the codes for the Automatic Comfort Door Package, but the vehicle does not actually have the functionality.

 

The US has finally decided to allow adaptive headlights, but likely not for another couple years.

Does this mean that the toll payment system is not available even for those of us that placed the order many months ago?

 

Hard to say. You should ask for an updated build sheet from your dealer to check if it's still there.

 

From what I’ve seen, the toll payment system is not ready for prime time. I did add it to my preorder for my 580, but a person I know who got it on his new S580 has had nothing but problems. He thought he had it all set up and wasn’t till a month later that he got multiple violations and penalties from EZPass for going thru the toll without an active transponder. He racked up hundreds in fines. Mercedes dealership had no training on it and didn’t have a clue how to set it up or even if you could set it up.

 

I wonder if that person you know got in touch w EZ Pass to see if they were set up for the M B system?

Wonder if he thought to check his EZ account to see if it was working with his M B toll system?

 

It’s ultimately on him for sure. I think it was supposed to be linked with the Mercedes’ Me app and he was under the impression he was signed up. No, I don’t think he checked with EZPass to see if it really was operational. As far as I know Audi is the only automaker that is connected now.

I had called the company first when deciding whether or not to order it. I was told you would not get the local discounts that using a dedicated local EZPass transponder gets. To me that is a deal breaker. The local bridge toll is $4. With my EZPass the toll is $0.83.

 

Ah, so…

So many things to consider…

 

From what I heard from the dealer today, it's not available, period. After reading a few of the posts here, it's clear why it's not available. I wonder if this can be added on in the future after they fix the bugs.

I finally came across an article from months ago that sums up my thoughts on the EQS’s blah styling:

Yes. If there was an alternative with better styling I would get that instead. But this is not a big enough issue to justify buying an ICE. The Tesla and Lucid alternatives have many drawbacks at least at this moment in time. BMW and Audi don't have anything at least for the next year or two.

    • Adaptive Rear Compartment Lighting allows the rear passengers to adjust the brightness, size, and color temperature of the rear reading lamps. A warmer tone of light can be set for relaxing, while a cooler light tone can promote concentration when working.
    • Illumination of the light can be adjusted in both size and position - for example, you can focus the light to only shine on a book while reading.
    • Lamps can be controlled via MBUX Voice Assistant, MBUX Interior Assistant, MBUX Rear Tablet, or buttons in the grab handle area.
• New plausi rules in effect for improvements to Executive Rear Seat Package Plus (DB6) - DB6 Requires MBUX Interior Assistant Front (77B), MBUX Interior Assistant Rear (78B) and Adaptive Rear Compartment Lighting (236)
