I have 22" 275/40 on my Land Rover and it rides very nice, but that is a larger tire than the 5 spoke. Again you almost have to drive one to see for yourself.

The AMG wheels look like an option you would be kicking yourself for getting every time you had to clean them. and how would you get to the calipers to clean them?
Definitely going with AMG wheels. Only debating whether to get 21" or 22" AMG wheels. I'm leaning towards the 22" because I have 35 tires on my Panamera and found the ride quality to be fine. But Porsche does have much better suspension calibration than Mercedes and the carbon ceramic brakes also help with ride quality so there is that concern.

Cleaning the wheels is a piece of cake if you use sonax wheel cleaner.*
Pop off the wheels to do the rotors.

* i have no relationship with sonax other than being a consumer of the stuff.

You jack the car up once a week and take all four wheels off to clean the rotors? LOL

Don't underestimate how little brake dust will be generated given use of regenerative braking (i.e. deceleration that doesnt use the pads).

Just put in my preorder. I'm 6th on my dealers list. I'm in no hurry, my 2018 S560 is suiting me just fine for now.

EQS580V4
DY 1 Exclusive trim
297 Selenite grey magno
805 Macchiato beige/space grey Nappa leather
DG1 AMG exterior line
RWX/R0121" AMG multispoke wheel
H39/697 center console natural grain yacht design
902 rapid heating front seats
596 infrared glass
445 MBUX AR HUD
216 10-Degree rear axle steering
P24 Automatic comfort doors
21U Dashcam

Obviously I have plenty of time if I want to modify the car. As of now, I had to order the AMG line exterior package along with 10-degree steering. This car will exclusively be driven and garaged in Florida year round so I really am not interested in winter package, etc. For some reason I had to add the rapid heating front seats, but I figure when I sell the car, it would be better to have it as in addition to Florida, I also own a house in New England.

i'm rather frustrated with my dealer.
They won't commit on an order. Although "I am first in line."

I'm not sure I have an "official" order in, but we sat together and built the car to my specifications on the dealers computer just like I did with my two previous S class cars. I saw the order after we were done and I could also see they had 5 EQS's on order before me. He also gave me a printout of the order. It's actually listed as a "request" on the printout. I guess it all depends on when they receive their allocations as to when it can get officially ordered and at this point the salesman flat out told me he doesn't know when that will be, so I don't really know when the car will be built. He expects the car to be popular and said if I'm seriously thinking of getting one, put in the order now to hold a spot and if I change my mind he could sell this car to someone else no problem. I'm in no hurry and I'm confident I will eventually get the vehicle as this will be my 6th car from him and he hasn't crossed me yet. My S560 will have to suffice till then.

The dealer cannot commit because there is no allocation. Only when MBUSA allocates a car will the dealer know when it will be produced.
Also, given that this is a new model expect there to be some delays.

Soulman:

Very nice! My last two S class have been diamond white and my GMC suv is also white, so I decided to flip things a bit and went for the selenite grey Magno finish. Second choice would be to go back to white again. I did a little research about the dashcam and was not impressed. I ordered it as well, as I have aftermarket dash cams in both my cars now. Apparently the Mercedes cam does not turn on automatically when you start the car, you have to go into the menu and turn it on. Not sure if you can turn it on with voice control, doubt it cause the videos I watched did not use voice activation. Also it’s front view only despite the car having surround view cameras. I hear the bmw dashcam has all 4 views. Tesla has front and rear. The best or nothing, right? No storage, need usb stick. No big deal, but people are saying they can’t view the images on their computers without a special program. Also does not record while parked if involved in an accident. My $100 aftermarket dash cam has front and rear cameras, better resolution, turns on automatically and has motion sensor so records if involved in accident or someone vandalized the car. YouTube reviewer said several of those drawbacks could possibly be fixed with OTA updates. I’m not impressed with Mercedes updates. My s class has OTA capability but I have never received an update in the 3 years I have owned the car. People have been so frustrated with the Mercedes version, they bagged using it and put in aftermarket cameras. I’m just ranting because I was excited when I saw the dashcam option, but really disappointed in what Mercedes did. ( Along the same lines, one reviewer said the tablet in the backseat of the EQS is a 7 yr old Samsung tablet. )

Tesla likely has the best dashcam setup from the factory as it features the most thought-out software. Hardware-wise BMW and Mercedes are low res. and the sensors are not usable for proper night-time footage. Our BMW dashcam works but feels like an after-thought at best; nothing compared to high-end dual-channel dash cams from Thinkware or Blackvue.

In regards to the Magno paints, had them, love them but you will have to pay attention to care and maintenance. No regular car washes, unless touch less and even then the wrong program can cause serious damage (never use wax). Handwash or PPF. No touch-up or buffing out a scratch, it needs a panel repaint. Just things to know before but definitely worth it

I heard the matte finish is more difficult to maintain. I heard you can ceramic coat it, which I would do if I keep the Magno paint and not go back to my default diamond white. I did my current S class and also my GMC Acadia in ceramic and really was impressed by results.

How do you find the "yellowish/beige" tint of diamond white? Do you like it?

I think you mean it is a warmer white. I think it looks good (had it on my 2018 E63S in my signature), but I have to say that I would prefer a cooler metallic white like what Porsche offer. Diamond White is a color I would not order, but which I would not object to if I found a car on the lot with the right spec.

I owned a matte car for about 3 years (see the 2014 M5 in my signature). I have to say that it was the lowest maintenance paint finish I have owned. There is absolutely nothing to maintain.

With my gloss cars, I have to get them ceramic coated, then I have to do a detail to top off every year to remove any micro scratches from the coating. Gloss cars also require hand washing weekly because they show dirt easily.

With a matte car, especially a matte gray car, there is nothing to do. You don't need a coating. You don't need to polish or paint correct. It doesn't show dirt - dirt just makes it look more matte. So you can wash it once a month. With the matte gray car I saved about $1000 per year in paint maintenance compared with a gloss car.

I too would like a "cooler" white. Is the Porsche white a metallic paint? What color is that? I had a nice cool metallic white on my Genesis and it was the most beautiful white you will ever see. Diamond white has a yellow (warmer) tint if you are not color blind.

Diamond White is an off-white with metallic. I would never describe it as "yellowish" and I'm not color blind. Polar White (which I've never owned) is a solid pure white. I don't know (and didn't check) if it's available for the EQS.

The Porsche Metallic white is called Carrera White. It has an Icy tone (i.e. a very tiny blue undertone). Most people love it - but it is a more sporty look whereas Mercedes one is a more creamy luxury look.

Yellow is not a good word. But any “off white” has to either lean towards being creamy or sandy (warm tone) or having a blue or green tint (cold tone). Think of it as 3700k white vs 6500k white to use lighting terminology. Diamond White is a warm white with a creamy quality. Porsche’s Carrera White is a cool white with an Icy hue.

this is something I have been thinking about a lot because we are building a new house which will have a white painted brick color. I want it to look good and also look good through tinted automotive glass. For the house I lean towards a slightly creamy white but as close to pure white as possible because automotive tint will make it look more warm.

You can't go wrong with MB Diamond White, it's a beautiful white and why I went with it on three consecutive MB purchases.

Thanks for using the 3200k vs 6000k analogy. I'm not sure why you guys are in denial, but most folks already know 3200k= softer/YELLOW and the higher you go up the scale, the light becomes whiter and then bluer.

Same with diamond white metallic. Its yellow in comparison to "cooler" whites. I am sorry to be so blunt about it, but that's what it is. Carrera white is beautiful by the way, and I wish Mercedes offered an equivalent metallic white.

Yeah I would also prefer that. I think the Diamond White type of color is okay on an SUV or an S-Class where a pearl look is more premium. But on a more sporty car, a cool white like the Carrera White fits the bill much better. I would also like to see Mercedes offer grayish whites like Porsche's Chalk.
