Understated vs Classic mode

Classic mode allows me to show items like radio stations, etc. I prefer Understated mode because I'd rather show a clock than a power meter. Is there anyway to show other items in Understated mode?

From what I seen, no you can't. There is a reason why it is called understated but please correct me if I am wrong. That said though, I am hoping cycling through will let you display the clock instead of the tachometer when in classic mode? Try cycling through the speedometer side and see what screens you are able to show then cycling through the tachometer side.

Aspects of this intrigue me, primarily showing an analog clock on the driver’s dash.

But this is the first mention I’ve seen of an “understated” mode. Due to physical limitations at the moment, it’s difficult to lay my hands on my manual.

if someone has a page reference to “understated mode,” I could try checking the .pdf version.

You can download an electronic version of the EQS manual here: https://www.mbusa.com/en/owners/manuals

According to the manual however, the instructions for what you are looking for are located in the Digital Operator's Maunal which is in your car's MBUX and not in the paper or online Owner's Manual.

Thanks, downloaded the manual, but it was no help.

I readily acknowledge both ignorance and a difficuly in interpreting manual terms.

What is my MBUX, and how do I access “understated driving mode” in MBUX?

Thanks for the responses! So according to the Digital Operator's Manual there are only color options available in Understated Mode.

That sure looks like an analog clock face on the right of your lower image.

Yep, sure is. The issue is you can't put anything inbetween the speedometer and the clock like items you can place between the speedometer and power meter when it's in Classic Mode.

Well, the range and temperature are both there - is anything else really necessary?

Necessary? Seriously? Have you seen all of the silly options available with Classic Mode? Anyway it's a moot point. Apparently the current system will not allow the same options with Understated Mode as Classic Mode.

I guess that's an answer of sorts, but,no, I haven't seen them. Put the car in Classic mode when I took delivery, and have had no reason to change it.

Only classic mode allows you options in the center of the display. Interestingly, I wasnt aware you could change the colors in understated. Thanks! I don't use understated since I like to flip between the options on the center of the screen

I'm very happy to say that I was able to get into my 450 today, to drive it, and to make a couple of setting changes.
I never saw the image of the driver's dash posted above, but I was able to bring up the "Understated Mode" with the big analog clock, and since it still shows the range and the temp is the same spots, I think I'm going to be just fine with that presentation. If not, I can always go back to "Classic."

I was also able to to the other screen and choose my color.

Thanks for pointing me in this direction.

PS - this was my first drive with my newly installed Michelin A-S Cross Climate 2 tires - I didn’t notice anything at all different from the OEM Summer Goodyear Asymmetrical tires. Nor did my wife when she drove it last week. Granted, this was street driving at no faster than 45 mph.
