Any Discounts on EQS vehicles with the Tesla Price cut

I got 5% off EQS SUV in December before the Tesla price cut but I’ve heard of others get as high as 13% in December.

China got a price cut of the EQS by $33k

I’d imagine now that the Model X is so much cheaper are even higher discounts possible? Had anyone here gotten a decent discount ? Looking to get a second EQS

The thing you have to understand is that Tesla is both a manufacturer and a retailer.

Mercedes is just a manufacturer.

Tesla because it is also the dealer, adjusted the price dynamically based on supply and demand. They saw they could charge more to end customers so they raised the price last year, and now they lowered it.

Mercedes keeps the price the same, the dealers take care of dynamic pricing. A year ago an EQS580 was being sold by its dealers for $25-30k over MSRP. Today you can get them for MSRP. That's a $25k price cut at the point of sale.

However the list price from Mercedes is still the same - they didn't see the high retail prices last year, and therefore they didn't cut when the dealer markups waned.

Was the 5% discount on a vehicle from dealer inventory or custom order?

The way traditional car manufactures handle this is with trunk money. Trunk money are incentives that the manufacturers pay the dealerships for each sold car, but it's still up to the dealership to pocket the trunk money as profit or pass it on to customers in the form of discounts. What the manufacturers set is the invoice price. The MSRP is just as the name says a suggested price.

Tesla doesn't really do discounts. What's on their website is what you pay, so they have an actual list price. The invoice price and trunk money has traditionally been highly guarded by the dealerships. They don't want the customers to know those amounts, so that they can maximize their profits, aka rip off the customer, but it also plays in favor of the customer as the depreciation is off of the MSRP and not the individual price the original buyer paid.

From inventory, to catch the tax incentive before it ended at the end of the year

Lightbulb Tax Law change for EVs

A $100K - $200K EV should be considered as an Appliance like a High End Fridge, Washer/Dryer, or (Electric) Stove and rolled into the price of New Homes since it is part of the Garage and potential backup battery power source. That way the younger enlightened generation can at least write off the interest on theIr taxes and "transported" in their EV Appliance within Westworld. As a retired old timer, home is paid for and will continue to drive my ICE...will maybe install a Level 2/3 charger in garage since the other neighbor is a commercial electrician. My children can then charge their appliances when they visit crazy Dad with the noisy and smokey V8 Hotrod Drift Merry Go Round for the amusement of the grandkids...

Was that 5% or 13% because of the $7500 lease incentive? Or straight discount off MSRP?

mine was straight discount to buy the car cash, I just made them an offer and they immediately said yes without counter offers or anything…this was in Florida less demand for EVs here than Cali

EQS SUV
I got a little over 13% discount for EQS SUV in December, plus $7500 tax credit. I also bought another car same day and traded it in for 8k more to the dealer. This was last week of December.

No more MB:(
Inventory is piling up. Over 1000 EQS cars on Autotrader. Even if that number is off by 20% it's huge. Prices will continue to soften. No way MSRP.

EQS 450+
I am purchasing a second EQS and I can only talk the dealer into sticker price. My 1st EQS, a rare 450+ with Hyperscreen, is going through a lemon buyback, so I am in a rush to find its replacement. I am working with 2 dealer networks to find a car with the same features that will be delivered before the buyback in mid-Feb, here in the bay area. Neither will offer me something below dealer - even the dealership that was responsible for the buyback - where my car was hit by one of their customers, on their lot, while they were working on it for over 50 days.

BUT, at least given the markup I paid on the they Hyperscreen 450+, I can afford a 580 with a couple of extra features for almost the same, although I will have to pay a couple of grand out of pocket.

What was the cause for invoking the lemon law?

As posted elsewhere and above, dealer buyback is probably not a result of the lemon law, but because the vehicle was damaged while in the dealer's possession for over 50 days. I've benefited from more than one dealer buybacks due to vehicle anomalies that were initiated by the dealer, not a lemon law.

I initiated the lemon buyback claim because after waiting about 6 weeks for them to fix the no-start problem, the car was hit while in the dealership's possession. That was the so-called straw for me. By that time, it was well over the 30 day threshold for the California lemon law, anyway. So I think it was more because of the no-start problem than the collision. It just so happened that until the car was hit, I was more forgiving of how long it was taking.

You guys have it easy in California with a forgiving lemon law. In Iowa, my I Pace had all sorts of serious problems, spending months on end at the dealership, and I *still* couldn't get the lemon law invoked. I ended up with a lame modest settlement from Jaguar, and still have the car. Currently at the dealer again, with no end in sight.

My only experience with lemon law was sour. (!!)

Took our used van to a local used lot to get an offer. Was given a price, along with the statement, never showing me a printout, or anything, "This is a lemon law car, so we have to discount it by 60%." I demurred, and was told,,"It's the lemon law." I said, "There's nothing in the law about 60% discounts. (I don't think that used car lots are even affected by lemon laws.)
Anyway, I took it to the local brand dealer and sold it to them at what I felt was a fair price.

I know this is off-topic. Sorry.

We got Costco pricing on ours six months ago plus the EV tax credit as well. Wasn't a terrible deal since one of the other dealers in town wouldn't budge off $15K over list.
