EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT CHARGING

Please don't start any more threads on the subject. Its getting boring.

Does the EQS have any way to precondition the battery for charging? I drove over to the nearby 350kw charger last night, temps were in the low 50s, and the car was at 18% charge. It started charging at 145kw, and went down from there. About 15 minutes in, it suddenly went from about 132kw up to almost 160, where it started to slow down again as it reached 80%. I believe if the battery was properly preconditioned, it would have started its charge closer to the maximum 200kw.

Do not fall into the fallacy that MB maintains their software the same way that Tesla, Polestar and the newer EV manufacturers do. MB is still a legacy car manufacturer that focuses on the next model year and planned obsolescence.
But I still love my EQS.

Mercedes usually does not bring new features to their cars. On the MBUX generation however they have brought small feature updates, even a bigger one: the zero layer approach. The difference to Tesla (so far at least) is that only limited updates are handled over the air.
Sounds like your MBUX SW is not up to date, have you checked? After MBUX update (at the dealer) you should have the option to activate dash cam automatically.

I am not fretting too much, though... my new 2023 580 is coming into port now.

But for the benefit of others it would have been useful if you had read the SW version from your car. At least it would tell if the missing feature could be because of old MBUX SW or if the issue for some odd reason exists with the current/latest MBUX SW.
