You may have seen news reports on March 1, 2023 announcing Tesla’s opening of its Supercharger network to non-Tesla EV
drivers via its ‘Magic Dock’ system. Tesla reported that the number of charging stations currently available is limited to a select
few that are located primarily in Northern California and Upstate New York. Additional stations are expected to open soon, and
Tesla has committed to open 3,500 Superchargers by the end of 2024.
First and foremost, please understand that Mercedes-Benz has neither tested nor evaluated the charging performance of Mercedes-Benz
vehicles at Tesla Superchargers. Therefore, we cannot vouch for the safety and interoperability of charging a Mercedes-Benz EQ
at any of these Tesla charging stations. We will share further details with you once we have conducted testing.
Please note too that the Tesla Supercharger network has not been integrated into Mercedes me Charge, and Tesla Superchargers
will not be included in our Navigation with Electric Intelligence. As a result, Mercedes-Benz vehicles will not be able to use Tesla’s
network when planning charging stops, and customers will have to pay for their charging session through the Tesla app. If your
customers encounter any problems, questions or concerns arising from charging their Mercedes-Benz vehicles at a Tesla
Supercharger, please direct them to Tesla’s customer service.
To charge their EQ vehicles at these Tesla Superchargers, Mercedes-Benz drivers will need to download the Tesla app and create
an account with Tesla. Customers will then need to follow the on-screen instructions (screenshots below) to unlock the station to
begin charging. Please note that the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center will not assist customers with setting up a
Tesla account and will refer customers to Tesla’s customer service.

Tesla supercharges with CCS meet all CCS standard requirements. Starting a Tesla account takes about 5 min.
Of course, it will not be free since they are not part of the MB charging network and as far as I can tell, you can forget about charging at 150kw or more on them.

It comes down to five out of five not working in Sweetwater, Texas in Jan of this year when I had but 18% charge left on the EQS, and just last week in Eastland, Texas where one was being repaird, one had the CHadmeo cable only when it usually had both Chadmeo and a CCS and the other one I tried did not 'speak' to the EQS. So I drove off instead of asking the repair techs what the big deal was. I had more than enought to get home.
In the Sweetwater, Texas station mentioned above, I did call the phone number listed on the chargers and the woman on the other end did get one to reboot and work. You can't can't get anywhere in Texas with just 18% charge on a EQS.
