Interesting that there is no mention of sensor package for Level 3 driving? Articles were making a guess that it would be an option for 2024 models. Overall, if SUV order guides are similar as well I don't regret getting a 2023 in June and not waiting for a 2024.
So it looks like the EQS is never going to get those Comfort doors. I suspected that the so called “chip shortage” was BS and has nothing to do with why we can’t get comfort door.
Geez, standard Hyperscreen but still no Soft Closing doors? WTF Mercedes?

"DRIVE PILOT available in the U.S. for model year 2024 S-Class and EQS Sedan models, with the first cars delivered to customers in the second half of 2023"
The current hotspot plan is limited to 50mbit (based on the plan description in website) so not sure if 5g would really help. Tmobile 4g LTE on my phone used to go up to 100mbit in certain areas so we were limited by the plan anyway.

Not sure what happened.
That's interesting. Volvo EX90 with Lidar that aimed to have level 3 (I believe they were right behind Mercedes) also got delayed to late 2024 at least. I wonder if the delays are related to a software issue around LIDAR sensors. Volvo's statement included something about software delays and in their LIDAR was going to be standard equipment. In any case, I would wait for level 3 at regular highway speeds anyway. The first implementation was only for certain roads with traffic and below 40mph, not much practical use IMO.
MB can upgrade the communication module if they want to but not sure they will. If they don't we can probably get a portable 5G hotspot and use it. I see the option to stream video and I am hopeful that it will apply to all models. Streaming over 4G would be super annoying though.

But my point was 4g LTE supports more bandwidth yet the plan offered limits at 50mbit. I agree though it wouldn't make sense to add 5g and not offer higher bandwidth. For me 5g isn't really needed as I was only listening music but I can see it being useful with rear seat entertainment option. Btw good 5g hotspots are ridiculously expensive for some reason.

Might have had something to do with what happened to this guy.
More big changes for the EQS! Order guide in first post has been updated.

That's a bold move increasing msrp while Tesla is dropping prices for Model X and likely Model S.
Bold move mentioning Tesla's price in regards to MB.
This is such a weird phenomenon in the EV world. Did you also watch what Kia does in comparison to MB with prices for ICE vehicles?

Why not? Model S and Model X are pretty much in the same category as EQS and both are considered luxury cars. Sure EQS can get a lot more luxury at the high end but a lot of people don't shop for Pinnacle trim with executive rear seat package.
Oh... so hence the higher price? Name a luxury feature in a Tesla Model S?
Leather seats? No
Massaging seats? No
Rear Wheel steering? No
Hyperscreen? No
High quality stereo, Power tilt/opening sunroof, Ambient lights, Digital Lights, 360 camera, Blind spot monitor, Attention assist, etc....? No?
What is so Luxurious about a Tesla? And if you mention the only thing I can think of then in that case is the Dodge Hellcat is a luxury vehicle?

Well, Tesla did just raise the price for the Model X Plaid by $5K. Model S Plaid remains the same and the other versions of both cars have not seen an increase.
On a different note, I saw that soft close doors are on option now on the EQS SUV (still no automatic doors, though) but they're still not an option on the sedan EQS. Still supply constrained and therefore focusing on SUVs since that's where a lot of the sales are these days?
