But I didn't get any paperwork - I guess I was assuming it would be sent to me - if you have a link can you please also PM it to me thank you!. Concerned though because you are saying it was only a 2 week window.
@eqb300 it looks like eqsfanboy already posted the link in his response. That is where you should be able to request the wall box from. I was told by the dealer that the promotion was only good until the end of the year, but it may have been extended. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any clear documentation on the dates or how to qualify. The dealer originally thought that they could submit the request for me, but later told me that Mercedes told them I would need to request it myself.

Hopefully, you will qualify for the free wall box.

Nick

Amazon doesn't sale the Mercedes wallbox. You can get it from the Stealer or Ebay.
Stealer want $1500, you can get it off Ebay for half the price.

Yeah i think the MB wallbox are pretty well built vs the Chargepoint Homeflex but need more setting options. I took a peak inside both unit and the components inside the MB unit are much bigger to handle the high current. When i first looked inside the CP unit i was wondering if these components can handle up 80 AMP Max as CP claimed. I'm an Electrical engineer so i always asked myself these questions. It hasn't catch on fire yet so i guess they know what they are doing LOL

ngiovas, I also just purchased 2023 EQE 350 SUV on January 2. On January 30 my Salesperson from MB sent me the link for a free Mercedes-Benz Wallbox. I am getting an error mesage when I put the VIN Number on registration page. Have you received your Wallbox?

I did get my wall box. There was a phone number listed on the page they had given me. I would try calling them to see if they can help you.

You should find from your wallbox documents that it fulfils IP55 requirements and is safe to use outside.

If you guys haven't already known this, EVBOX make wallbox for Mercedes Benz. Maybe buying from them is cheaper if you want something like the Mercedes wallbox.

Question Mercedes WallBox Plug in Option?

Any help on wiring it as a Plug in. I am trying to plug it in to an existing Nema 14-50 Outlet using a Short 6/8 Cable and a Nema 14-50 Plug. It fits my application better.

Get a dryer 14-50 cable from Lowes or Home Depo. Very easy to hook up, only 3 wires.

I have the same question as @EQS580SUV. I would like to use an existing Nema 14-50 outlet. Considering using a 10 ft long cord. Has anyone tried that? Any concerns with using a cord or “extension” as I’ve read that direct hardwiring is better/preferred. I would think it’s fine but this Reddit thread is throwing me off.

Amazon link to the 14-50 Cord 10 ft.

My dryer and every dryer in all the new houses around here use a NEMA 14-30 outlet. Nobody has a 14-50 outlet. Yet that seems to be the only adapter most car manufacturers provide with their dual voltage EVSEs. Go figure...

I bought all my charging gear from https://splitvolt.com/collections/extension-cables

IMHO: Unless you really need to, due to convenience, location, etc., Direct Wire seems to be the preferred method, because the outlet decreases the electrical flow rating and is not as safe as a direct connection. Further, per most city codes, if an outlet is used, a GFCI needs to be in place. Therefore, you may be better off to go direct, unless you need to plug into a Nema 14-50 Outlet. I am opting to use a short cable and plug into the outlet for convenience and I am OK with the slight degrade in charging time. I intend to use a 4 prong and use L1,L2, Gnd, and Neutral from the outlet. Still waiting for the cable, Will report back once installed. Cable with integrated plug is about $20-30, and it should actually shorten the install time as compared to a Direct install. I am a bit techy, but am not an electrician and any other feedback is welcomed. Hope this helps

Are the built in chargers in Mercedes newest vehicles capable of 11.5kW charging? Because, most of us have a 9.6kW charger in our vehicles, so it doesn't matter that the Mercedes Wallbox says it can produce 11.5kW.....at 50amps my Chargepoint will still charge my car just as fast. Unless I am misunderstanding, a 60amp hardwired wallbox will still only charge my car at the maximum my built in charger allows....9.6kW. Am I missing something?

My scenario is pretty much like yours. The builder already had the 50 AMP prewiring and I had installed 14-50 Nema outlet a while ago. We weren’t using the outlet though. It will be much easier to just install a cord with plug on the charger and use the available outlet. I am OK with a bit of degradation on charging time too. Of course, don’t want to compromise on safety or violate any codes. So, some additional questions.

1. Did you install GFCI for the outlet? Sounds like something I missed doing earlier and should look at doing now? Could you share product link, if possible.

2. If I were to hardwire, can I just extend the prewire by hooking up 6/3 wire? The current location is not ideal and unfortunately I can’t just install the charger at that location. Not sure what splicing two 6/3 wires entail. Just like you, I am tech savvy, have done plenty of electrical work but not an electrician!

Thanks!

If there is a Nema 14-50 Outlet, chances are it is connected to a GFCI, per code, depending on who installed it. The Wall Box does have its own GFCI much superior to any installed one. In my case, the Electrician installed one when he installed the outlet for the Tesla, the car we replaced with the EQS580.
This is what I ordered:
Amazon Amazon
50 feet round trip, you would lose about 20 volts, so a 6Awg could go 100Feet for a 50Amp.
Per Mercedes Wall Box Manual: Solid Wire: 16mm (6AWG Copper field wiring rated at 90 degrees C (194 degrees F)) Stranded wire with Ferrule (Without plastic Sleeve (Maximum 16mm Terminal Block) (6 AWG)
Maximum Charge Rate: Up to 11.5 KW (240V Split-phase, 60 Hz, 48 Amp)
Conduit Diameter: 3/4 Inch
I am not an electrician, please consult with a licensed electrician.
