Switching back to ICE?
#76
I am fully into the "will not go back camp". The factors that will move the masses to EV are:
1. New vehicle purchase price closer to a similar ICE (getting there for used)
2. Longer range on full charge equivalent to a full tank of gas
3. Less range drop-off in colder weather
4. Much more public chargers everywhere (chicken & egg situation)
5. Faster charging times
Items 2-5 are all range anxiety mindset issues for the majority of owners, and likely a non-issue for most with home charging.

No canopies offering protection from rain or snow.
No squeeegees to clean windshield.
No obvious way to form a queue for cars waiting to charge.
Blocked parking spaces by delivery vehicles or snow cleared from other parking spaces with no place to go.
Clear indication of availability status. It should not be necessary to park in a space and exit your car to determine that a station is out of order. GREEN EA stations should change to RED.
Chargers should automatically limit maximum SoC to somewhere between 80% and 90% when all stations are in use and more cars are waiting to charge.
Makeshift sign at Sheetz attempting to bring order to chaotic charging situation.

@MBNUT1 So if I drive an electric vehicles it doesn't matter if the government spends 100s of billions of dollars on fossil fuel guzzling tanks and jets? You can't support the war in Ukraine and/or Gaza and truly care about global warming. You also can't claim to be for the "Me Too" movement while shadow banning Tara Reade. And of course, you can't really care about kids if you cover-up the fact that Mossad was protecting Clinton on Epstein's island, not the Secret Service.
I'm tired of being treated like an imbecile by politicians.

I do understand some of the concerns on charge time and reliability of the network for road tripping. Unfortunate that EA has had such a rough start and couldn’t match tesla up time and reliability. Also some of the locations are far off the major highways. That said, I was at my place in FL and had to fill my Raptor up (premium) and it was a 148 bucks. I thought, hmmmmm, should I get the SUV version of the Hummer?

That is the thing. So, just this past Sat we were going to a lake to Jetski...buddy had to stop is truck (Ford) and charge for just over an hour (including time waiting for another car to leave the charger). He got the lake late....as for me, I had to stop for fuel as well. Took about four minutes to get me a about four hundred miles of range....
