Rattles and squeaks?

Is it true that the EQS has a lot of rattles and squeaks?

I have a 2022 EQS that I swear its noisy then I get in my wife's Genesis or my daughter's GMC denali and I realized just how quiet and rock solid my car is. Since I have the AMG on bad roads you do get tire noise.

I mean, electric vehicles don't have the NVH of the ICE so very minute noises can be heard and felt.

Sure, but some are rattle and squeak more than others. I have a GV60 and the only rattles I had were my center storage which I fixed and the trunk which Genesis fixed. I hear that Taycans are solid and EQS have a lot of cheap plastic which rattles, so I was curious to hear from more owners.

I don't know about cheap plastics in the EQS. I think all modern cars have lots of plastics. My BMW F02 has zero rattles and squeaks for the last 11 years. My EQS has a metal spring like noise on the passenger seat when no one sits in it, and the there is some rattle on the passenger door going over certain concrete road (typically the neighborhood roads where the speed limit is below 20 mph. I'm getting a third dealership to look at the seat noise (the other two thought it was the headrest . . . not). If they can replace or fix that, and the front passenger side door panel, then all is quite in my EQS. I've only had it 13.5K miles.

I have the same issue with the passenger seat noise. I have taken it in 3 times. Headrest has been replaces and still not resolved. Please update if you are able to get yours resolved.

I am having the same exact rattle in the SUV. Would love to know if anyone figure out what it is. It's intermittent and hard to repro but when it happens, it's annoying.

I sold my EQS at about 37K miles and three years. I had no interior rattles or squeeks. It was amazingly silent. The only problem it had developed was a squeek in the right front suspension when going over speed bumps, etc.

Regarding the rattle in the passenger seat, I got my car back today, and there is no rattling from the passenger front seat near the headrest so far. The service invoice indicated that, "Install dampening felt to passengers seat back panel to reduce the rattling. Rattling not heard after felt installation. TK1791. Raymundo lic#6952." This dealership is MB of North Houston. They also installed felt on my passenger front door near the switches because that was rattling going over certain concrete roads. I will report back after some time with the car. When the passenger seat did rattle, the sound is louder when the weather is warmer. So, I think it may have a lot to do with some metal parts or spring that expand and contracts with the temperature and with about less than a mm gap, it would rattle constantly unless someone was sitting in the passenger seat, or you put ya small amount of pressure right below the passenger headrest stem (front or back).

They said headrest is held by a single pin that lets it wobble side to side. If there had been two pins to hold it in place it wouldn't be able to rotate like that. So there's your root cause: a design flaw. The fix was to apply felt tape to the surfaces that contact each other and reassemble. Headrest rattle is gone.

My rattle stopped for 2 days, and now it back but with a lighter or softer pinging. I took it MB North Houston. Apparently, they don't talk to each other about a past fix. Do you have a copy of the service documents? It should show who fixed it and his/her license #. I had the same folks replace the headrest the first time around. The rattle only stopped for a few days as well. If I have the proper documents on how to remove the headrest covers, I would try to figure it out myself.

Try putting the headrest in the lowest position. That seems to stop it from wobbling. Root cause is they used one pole/post to attach it to seat instead of two like most headrests. It's a design flaw.

I diagnosed the spring rattle sound to something in the center armrest console. I always thought its coming from the passenger seat because if my daughter is sitting on it, it doesn't happen as often. And then, when my wife is sitting on it, the rattles happen like usual. I then noticed that the difference is my daughter would rest her elbow on the center console armrest and my wife does not. And my daughter help pinpoint the sound and she said it's coming from the middle. For me from my side, it sounded like it's coming from the passenger side door. I started driving with the center armrest console cover opened and the rattle is gone. I close one cover, rattle still gone, but if i close both the rattle starts happening. If I hold on to the center console, the rattle stops. So something is rattling inside the center console, and it's possibly the spring for the covers. I am going to try shim it before I try to take it apart based on Lazarus's old post.

Even at stationary, I will sit on the backseat, and lightly pound on the front passenger seat, and hear the spring like rattle. So I know, 100%, that it is somewhere between the headrest and the upper portion of the backrest. Basically, when the backrest of the seat vibrates, the rattle starts. It doesn't happen on very cold days, just warm and hot days. I'd love to take the thing apart myself just for educational purpose if I have the instructions and time, but for now, I just want the damn thing fix. Greasedfolgore is right on the money. I put in every position. I still rattles.

I've solved mine, hope you find your spring rattle. I added shims at various spots around the base of the armrest console, and added thick felt tape under the cover to make sure it is snug and tight when closed. The rattle isn't completely gone since i can still hear it if it gets bumpy over long stretch of small bumps, but I would say, it's 95% done, will need to figure how to get the rest of it without having to take the console apart.

Wanted to come back and said the rattle is gone for good for over a month now after the shimming.

The car is back in the same dealership. This time, the foreman is going to try to figure it out. From talking to the director, they know about the design flaw and the issue. However, because the issue is around moving components, the troubleshoot is difficult, and can be different for different cars despite the same rattling location. I'll report back with an update.
