Spoke to Lime Rock at length today. Could be available, but at a cost...of course. Not sure what people would be comfortable with. Good thing is that Lime Rock is an internationally famous track for it's technical aspects as well as history. Should prove to be good fun. Tomorrow I'm speaking to them about when our event would take place. Seeing as to how it's tentative it may prove to be a bit difficult.

Cheers

just got in touch with the guys at atco. they say that the track can only be reserved on the weekdays. i suggested if we could rent it at night on the weekedn and they say that it won't be possible. also, like island dragway, they cannot accomodate such a huge group. they say the max is 15 people for $2000 on a weekday.

i'm going to call up this place in deleware and let you guys know how that goes tomorrow (they're closed today).

ok, i won't call the deleware drag strip.

i just wrote an email to pocono raceway and i'll let you guys know about that as soon as they reply. i'm not sure if pocono raceway is the type of track we're looking for, but it's better than no track.

folks the following links are to some pictures taken by the two photographers coming to the event

One of them may end up video taping the entire event for us, in place of snapping pictures but it should be very cool

AMG Challenge is at Lime Rock aug 15-16 ...a few of us 500E owners will be there monday....prolly not a good day to have a GTG but we'll be there.

There's also a 500E meet within the annual Audi S-fest in Granby, CT on aug 27. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll post the official link for it....its invite only. 100+ cool cars including Ferraris and Porsches as well.

I'm sure I can get the local 500E guys to come to your meet too...if you don't mind old school Benzes.

hey 55fanatic, if we can't get a track, why not setup our own autocross course. it would definitely be much cheaper than renting a track. all we would have to do is secure some pavement (i'm assuming we'd look for a parking lot of a huge factory or stadium that's not being used that weekend), buy some cones and one of those timing machines (one that starts the timer when you cross the line and stops the timer at the finish line).

what do you think??

plus, did you get in touch with englishtown raceway??

another suggestion would be doing some sort of detailing event. maybe we can get a meguiar's guy to come by. we all like our cars nice, especially if we're driving from far distances and going to take pictures. i think this would fill in time nicely if we can't get track time, or this could be another event for the weekend.

both of those are great ideas, although wont it be a little chilly to do some kind of detailing day in october? Whats the weather usually like in Jersey the first week in october?

i was at the M-class road rally here in N.Y. and that is what they did. it was really great and i think the m-class handels great for an SUV. it was in belmont park, NY. we will just have to get hundreds of cones and a pro to set it up. if we cant get a track i think this is a great and possible thing to do.

i don't think it'll be that cold. at least in dc, i remember i was wearing jeans and a t shirt for columbus day weekend two years ago.

as for a parking lot, i remember there was a c class event a few years ago that used shea stadium. and i'm pretty sure the mets will not be playing at this time of the year.

I would love to use this as a backdrop!!! For the First Annual Northeast MB/AMG Gathering!!! Guys my internship ends next week after that I should be able to invest a little more time into this!!! I like the path that may open up for us!!!
