Track Time! MD/DC/VA
OK guys, its been a while since we went up to capitol. Alot of people have expressed interest in a track rental and I was looking at renting the track on a friday either towards the end of August or early September when things begin to cool off. I want to make this convenient for everybody so if you have any suggestions please feel free to tell me. To those of you who have never been to one of the track rentals, it usually comes out to 120 dollars (I'm not doing this for profit, the bill will be evenly split by everyone who attends). You can run all day and I dont think there has been a single person that wasnt happy with the number of runs they got. The track is very well prepped, including VHT spray. Unfortunately there is no head to head racing "due to insurance reasons". Lets get a roll call and preferences on the date. I will be posting for other people who are not members of this forum and would like to join.

PS- last time we had an M5 at the track and he didnt beat any of the 55k's! Unless you're talkin about your supra, thats a different story. A friend of mine will be bringing his M5 and another will be bringing an M6 as well. A few modded 996TT's have also expressed interest. As always there will be alot of 55k's.

The supra breathes smoke and shoots four foot flames out of its titanium snout, I doubt I'd be able to make the road trip in it without being arrested on the spot, plus my 19" HRE's preclude me from doing anything on a track but a huge smokey, angry, loud burnout. The M5 would be my weapon of choice as I'm a pretty decent track driver. Having driven E55's many times, I have a hard time believing one could stand up to the M5 in the twisties, that thing handled like my escalade.

I would love to see that Supra run. The M5 can definitely outhandle a E55 but this track is 1/4 mile only, sorry. Put the Supra on a trailer! lol Whatever you bring, just come out and have some fun. I'm a moron I thought it was a track with TURNS. If its a 1/4 mile I'll see if I can put some drag slicks on my OEM Toyota wheels and bring the "dawg" down. The Thing is an ANIMAL and the rwhp figures are on pump gas, which goes rather quickly. I've never ran it in the 1/4 but the tech who built the motor has built many a 2JZ and swears this car will break 9's with the right driver, which is why I never, ever drive it. I'll try and get some new pics up, I took some this morning but they're using my Sidekick 3 and hence, horrible. The M5 is garbage in the 1/4 mile especially with those horrid conti run-flats.

OLD: 2004 C230 Sport Sedan, NEW: 2007 SLK350
I just ordered my 2nd Benz... a 2007 SLK350, so I don't have a Benz right now... even then I would get smoked by your Kleeman's and AMGs, not to mention the Lambo...
worse yet, my previous Benz (C230 Sport) got total'd, and my other car is a Pontiac GrandAm SE, which is what I'm driving right now..
... can I still show up at the track event when I get the SLK?

What track are you thinking of renting? No head to head racing....
I can trailer the CDI in with my truck, and run both. 8000 pounds and low 13s with a 6 speed handshaker. Makes the ricers hate me.
Anyone know what ballpark figure the CDIs run? I havn't had a chance to race it yet.

There are alot of people that dont have a preference on what day its held and a few people that want either friday or monday. I guess I'll wait to get a few more votes in and see what happens.
The track I'm renting is Capitol Raceway in Crofton, MD. www.capitolraceway.com I have no idea what the cdi runs (I would guess low 14's). Those turbo diesel trucks are no joke either.
When I said cyclone I meant the GMC cyclone (its a 4WD pickup truck with a V6 turbo). It ran a 10.2 last year before he broke the tranny. Maybe he'll break into the 9's this time

Ok, time to pick a date. Sept 4th (Monday) or Sept 8th (Friday)? I know Milton wants a monday. Most people have told me they dont care and other say friday. I'm leaning more towards the monday. Let me know so I can put down a deposit. Thanks.

Oops, Sep. 4th is labor day and the following monday is 9/11. So I guess the next monday we could do this would be September 18th.
