Attention Houston, Dallas, Austin!!
My brother and a bunch of his M3 buddies are scheduling a run to Austin for a tour of the fun and twisty roads Austin has to offer!! It is scheduled for Sunday December 8th ; there will be a group from Houston and a group from Dallas meeting up in Austin at around noon.
Tentative schedule from Houston as follows:
9:30 - Meet at Katy Mills Mall
10:00 - Head to Austin
12-12:30 - Introductions in Austin and lunch
2:00 - HIT THE ROAD, stopping somewhere for a photo shoot
5:00 - Conclude with either a brew or dinner; head home
I know that they are Bimmers, but hey, it will be a blast!! Those with CLK 55s can finally show the M3ers what true German power is! I know there are at least a few of you from Sugar Land, TX, so we can meet up somewhere around here and caravan to Katy Mills. If you are from Dallas or Austin, PM me so I can get you the correct information.
I will post more information as it becomes available, see ya then!
Hi Guys,
Just a reminder that the Austin Hill Country drive has been finalized. The journey's details are at the bottom. All M'ers and BMW'ers are welcome to join us!! It should be an awesome drive thru the hilly, backroads of Austin! It should be pretty exciting and fun as an Austin local (Agent7) has some special roads for our journey.
HOUSTON People: We are planning on meeting at Katy Mills at 9am sharp in the Fuddruckers parking lot
DALLAS people: Contact Austin (krazyklown_12@hotmail.com) for the Dallas convoy plans.
Contact me with any questions: RoadRat@roadfly.org
Hope to see you all there!!!
The DETAILS:
Meet for Lunch:
County Line BBQ (opens at 11:30AM on Sunday)
6500 Bee Caves Rd (1/2 mile west of Hwy 360 and on the right if your going west on Bee Caves Rd.)
(512) 327-1742
The Drive (approx. 165 miles):
Turn right out of the County Line BBQ parking lot. Take Bee Cave Rd. going west for about 8 miles to Hwy 71 and go west (right) on Hwy 71.
Stay on Hwy 71W for 59 miles, which will take you into Llano. At the end of Hwy 71, you'll come to a stop sign, which is Hwy 16 in Llano.
Photo Shoot on Llano River and Rest Area Break:
Take a right on Hwy 16 for 1.2 miles into Llano and cross the Llano River Bridge. Immediately after crossing the Llano River Bridge, take a left on Legion Drive (across the street from the Llano Historical Museum). Go about 100 yards on Legion Dr. and turn left into the American Legion Parking lot and park there. There is a restaurant next door called the Llaneaux Seafood House that has public restrooms.
When leaving the American Legion parking lot, turn right on Hwy 16 and go for 20 miles. Keep a sharp eye out for a little road to the left called "Willow City Loop" (this 13 mile road has tons of photo opportunities). Turn left onto the Willow City Loop and go exactly 2 miles and pull over to the side of the road at the “Buice Rd”. street sign for our second photo shoot of the day (nice view).
After the photo shoot, continue on the Willow City Loop for 11 miles until you get into the tiny town of Willow City (at the stop sign), just continue going straight after going thru the stop sign and this road will become Hwy 1323. Take Hwy 1323 for about 22 miles to Hwy 281.
Take a left (north) onto Hwy 281 and go about 9 miles. Turn right onto 962 for go for about 7 miles. Turn left on 962 at Cypress Mill for 9 miles and you will cross the Pedernales River. After you cross the Pedernales River, the road becomes 3238 (AKA Hamilton Pool Rd.) Follow 3238 for 15 miles to Hwy 71.
Final destination for dinner not yet finalized.
