Thanks Tristan !

I will be in contact you once we get settled on the venue.
Still waiting from Angela or Mark, hoping to hear good news about using the Los Alamitos Air Base.
Otherwise, we may have to forget about 1/4 mile runs and other "loud" activities.

Update Carlos,
My friend rents out tracks all the time in Vegas and airstrips, and his contact at this base said 10k. He is going to have the guy contact me but that price is too high for us. I don't see collecting that price from Vendors. I will see if he will give us a discount if we hold a charity meet as well. It's time to look at other options. I am not into holding it at T.J.'s again. I was very disappointed with their $250.00 charity donation as a percent of the food. We all know they made a killing that day.

I have another idea I am working on today. Any other ideas guys?

$10k for the Los Alamitos base, or was that for a base nearby Las Vegas ?

I was left under the impression from Mark, that the Los Alamitos base would be a very low-cost type venue. Maybe I misunderstood.

I don't have any other options for a site where we can do run-type events.

Well, a good fallback is always the Rose Bowl, Pasadena. I just checked their website and the 15th is open.

That is what I was told the cost would be for renting out Los Alamitos. I haven't heard from the person in charge yet to confirm the price. The guy I know has his own plane, one too many exotics, and doesn't worry about cost.
He has offered to do a joint venture with me but it couldn't be limited to MB??

We don't need to do run events but it would be a good change. I think we would get more members to come.
Just an idea, but I went on a meet day with a bunch of M5 guys last year and they did a run, go kart racing and then pizza and beer. We could plan something fun like that?
The only bad thing about that is we would have too many cars for the run. They split up into three groups with radios and I had a blast, but that was like 20 cars. If we planned it right I think there are hills over by Glendale that are used for runs and we could have several groups? Go karting or something fun after that as a whole group and then head to pizza and beer?

I thought about Rose Bowl, but that is just a bunch of us standing around looking at the same cars.

Thank you to everyone that has offered to help! Sun is busting out with the mods????

Neal,
PM address ASAP! lol I agree that a later date would help, but Carlos has done so much for all of us to leave him out.

Shelle tried to get a meet at the classic center one time????

How many hours did it take you to come up with that comment? For once you're brain is actually functioning. What a miracle!

Excuse my ignorance, but where does Carlos leave to? I'm sorry, I don't know what he does very well. Although I do know he is the man to talk to when setting up meets. (So I've heard)!

Classic Center is an awesome venue, but not for 250 MB's.
There's no room.

Angela, Tristan, Thomas, Roland, Mike please send me your e-mail addresses.
We may need to meet with the Los Alamitos Base Commander for a warm & fuzzy proposal meeting.
We need to set this meeting up ASAP, but first we need to either meet or do some sort of conference call to ensure we are all on the same page of music, and sort out all the details.

Can you guys meet this weekend (Friday 19 or Saturday 20 ) ?????

Mark Cummins is helping us out tremendously, but it's time to put on our game faces !!!
We need to present a detailed plan to the Base Commander.

Please e-mail me tonight if possible...

Carlos

no middle men... let's go straight to the source: BASE COMMANDER.

We need to meet with him soon.

I think the only way we are going to attract a huge crowd (and consequently more vendors, donations, media, and entertainment) is by having some sort of run events. This is a huge draw as proven by the bunch of meets we've had in the past and people get bored to quickly. That's what happens when the Atari-to-Nintendo ADD generation starts buying cars !!

Agreed, but I would take than any day over nothing at all.
With proper planning we can still have vendors and raffle prizes, and even entertainment at the Rose Bowl lots. We can't pooh-pooh any options if the Base venue falls through.

Absolutely. A big THANK YOU from me as well.
Please send me your e-mail address, so I can keep you all informed of planning and event issues. That would be Mike, Thomas, Roland, Angela, Tristan, and anyone else who can seriously help us with this event.
If ( if ) we do have a run/track event, I need someone with experience in these matters to chime in real soon. Basically, I need a TRACK MASTER !!

ok, the ball is rolling... sideways, but rolling...
PLEASE help me to get it going in the right direction.

we're still fighting.... in either case, it will be a huge event, so please tell all your Mercedes-Benz friends to set that date aside.

See you on Nov 15th !

Hi Neal... my job is a bit complicated... but I do travel way too much on official business. I'll be out of the USA for a long time (3 to 4 years) starting in December.

Let's just say, I'll be doing my part to ensure that you guys can still have MB Meets and live a good life without the fear of idiots flying into buildings any time soon.

I really wish we could move the date to accommodate everyone.
But it's the same with any date we propose. If it was Nov 8th or Dec 8th a bunch of people say they are out of town. If we move it back a week or a month, then Thanksgiving & Christmas/Holidays kill attendance, and so on and so on...
