I am going to try and get Carlos to help me plan a meet in November. Any ideas of a new location? Mark Cummins always has good ideas! Anyone want to help plan this one?
It would be cool to have it at a place where we could do some runs???

 

Theres the PURE-EURO meet in Encino on Thursdays. Its at 'THE STAND' which is a awesome place to eat off Ventura.

I'll be out of the US the first 10 days of November.
Nov 15th is a date I can work with, if that's OK with you.

Mark is moving out of state, so I don't know if he'll be able to help us, but he did suggest the old Air Reserve Base at LOS ALAMITOS.
There have been car meets (& limited auto-cross / 1/4 mile events) held there before.
I would need someone to help set that up who's got the connections.

The location is perfect, because it's pretty much south of Los Angeles (near Orange County border line), so people from Ventura can come down, and people from San Diego can come up. Las Vegas people are not far, and for something THIS BIG, there's no reason the NorCal and Vancouver, Canada folks can't caravan down...

I would however, ask that it remain a Mercedes-Benz only event, to prevent some of the unpleasantries of previous mixed brand meets.
My goal is 250 MB cars showing up !

Things to consider (ie start planning):
- In N Out mobile food trailer ( involves a $$ deposit)
- Charity Organization participation (Toys4Tots, Make-a-Wish, etc...)
- donations and corporate gifts for raffle prizes
- involve the local MBCA Sections (LA, SouthBay-Long Beach, San Diego, etc...)
- sponsor booths and demonstrations (RENNtech, evosport, Kleemann, Brabus, etc...)
- entertainment (DJ / band / MC)
- good photographers / videographers
- track master and stewards
- invite the 190SL Group, the UNIMOG club, the SMART club, and AMG Lounge
- if we go with LOS ALAMITOS, there is no shade: so canopies, tables & chairs are needed
- Mercedes-Benz Classic Center attendance
- we need HYPE !! - EuroTuner magazine / website promotions / etc...
- local Mercedes-Benz dealership participation / sponsorship (Penske, Rusnak, United Auto Group, etc...)

and probably a whole lot more stuff.

Let's keep this as a planning thread, and I encourage people who seriously want to help to PLEASE PLEASE chime in.
Angela and I cannot and WILL NOT do all the work.
I love to get the Mercedes-Benz crowd together and you all know how successful our previous SAPRISSA MB-only meets have been.
But it takes a lot of work and coordination, and if you don't help, you have no right to complain after the fact....

Respond to this thread if you can and will help with any of the above items.
Angela and I can tell you that planning and executing a Mercedes-Benz mega-meet is not easy, that's why I ask that you step up !
We need pro-active people that get things done.
I can provide some general guidance, but sometimes you have to be creative and convincing to make things happen and pull-off a successful memorable MB meet !

That date sounds good to me! I couldn't have written that post better myself. I agree about a MB only meet!!!! A 1/4 mile event would bring a huge smile to my face!

I sent Mark a PM and hope to hear from him. Once we get the location set we can work on the rest. I know Shelle is always down to help. I bet Chiromikey would run the 1/4 mile event. Just a hunch.

My bank holds the corp. acct. for In-n-out, I will see what I can do.

I will call the Air Base on Monday and see what I can do.

The In-N-Out truck is no problem and I got them to commit to donate a portion of the sales to charity. I am on the executive board of Make A Wish, and it would nice to give it to them. I know where that money goes.

Once I speak to the base I will contact you.

already got one vendor who is donating 15 DYNO run certificates to lucky raffle winners or maybe (if we get the airfield to allow 1/4 mile runs) to the top time runners.

I'm thinking TWS, Speed Innovations, TEIN, HMS, and all the exhaust, suspension, and wheel shops that people have been using for years now...

I have a few guys that can help with the event when we secure the location. I can also get busy getting vendors after we announce the location. I guess we will wait to hear from Mark.

yup, a whole lot of the planning hinges on just the location.

the problem I have with a parking lot is that we can't do 1/4 mile runs or other cool stuff, and we're basically at the mercy of the parking lot owner / store-fronts / or city (police).

Regardless, we'll do a MB Meet on NOV 15th, but I want to keep pushing for an awesome venue to be able to do all the things we would like to do, without hassle from anyone.

I'd love to attend this meet and set up a booth there and can even donate some parts for charity. Unfortunately the only bad part is the date. It's to close to SEMA for me and to much traveling in one month. I wish it was December or January.

I still hope that EUROTECK can somehow be a part of this legendary meet.
People will be talking about it for years ! Donations gladly accepted.

I thought about that after posting the date Neal. If Carlos wasn't leaving town I would opt for moving it but we need to send him off in a bang. Besides stinker you are young and full of life and can get your butt on a plane again. If not let me know and I will mail you some Centrum. jk...you need to come if this turns out to be a big one.

 

Ok, If this really looks like it will be a legendary meet and a lot bigger then the TJs meet I was at last time, then I will try to pack my bags and pack the pallets and attend this one too.
