I will hopefully have some good news for everyone on Oct 1st.
I will put out postings on all threads, and create the official Event Flyer.
The official sign-up list will be here in this forum, and there will be a separate list for those who want to participate in the motoring events, assuming the proper insurance and paperwork for your car is all in order.

so in the meantime keep hyping the event in your respective MB forums, and mark your calendar for a day of MB fun on Nov 15th !

I'm guessing someone's going to create an "Official" thread for this event correct or do we just use this one?

I can start posting on other boards if some haven't already. Let me know.

 

There will be an OFFICIAL thread... coming OCT 1st. Saprissa style with online FLYER and everything !!

hold your horses on posting on other MB boards until that threads comes out.
We will have to have a strict sign-up list this time around (no maybes) because if you plan to run the track, you will need to have proof of insurance, valid state registration, and possibly pay a small fee to cover costs. Nothing like a track fee though. Think minimal.

No cost for attendance / spectators as long as they show up in a Mercedes-Benz.

right now the ball is in the court of the Los Alamitos Base Commander.
I'm waiting for him to confirm the date, which may slide back a week to the 22nd as a possibility.

So it could be the 15th, it could be the 22nd.
The track event most likely will not occur, since he has a Reserve Training exercise that weekend. BUT, this opens the door for us to do a combined track event with Wings, Wheels, & Rotors next October.

As soon as I hear something, I will post here. Bear with me guys !!

I submitted my formal written request on Sept 30....
not a peep from the Los Alamitos Base Commander.

This is really frustrating, because there is so much to do, with less and less time to do it all in.

 

This meet seems like it will be such short notice for the size you guys wanted it....

 

yeah... the venue really screwed us.
Tomorrow (finally) / Oct 9th... I get the "YES" or "NO" from the Base Commander. I called today, and just kept getting voice-mail.

The anticipation of having a track day was great and all... but if someone really wants to plan that in SoCal, it's not going to happen 2-3 months before hand. You need to plan this a year out ! Ask Angela !

So, it's probably not worth your while to come out here Neal on the 15th, not that I wouldn't want you to come, but if we do go ahead and get the "YES", it's just going to be a typical meet & greet with hopefully a raffle and some light entertainment. No trackie event this year.

For OCTOBER 2009, we can combine it with Wings, Wheels & Rotors and merge with the Porsche, BMW, Audi clubs and take over the whole airfield runways. According to the Base Commander, that is doable, but planning starts now !!!

our good friend Mikey will be leading a team of "Meetsters" to make next year's huge event happen !! If I can make it back from Germany for a guest appearance I will.

I wasn't at the last TJ's meet... most likely sitting off the coast of Iran or someplace at the time.
