9/13 Roslyn NY
AMG event:
Today went down to the AMG event in Roslyn and after driving the ones they had on hand, my pick was the SL63 for a daily driver and the C63 for other times. The C63 is perfect for short trips or when you just feel like tearing the tires off something.
Drove:
C63
SL63
E63
CL63
ML63
Surprisingly, no CLS63 or S63's were available for current AMG owners to drive ?
My run in C63 was 12.9 in the qtr

hey! i was there too! I think i saw you there!
The cl63 was sweet. Too bad no 65's were there for us to drive. Great presentation, and a great mobile facility for amg owners to peruse the new rides. They had 1 65 in the showroom for 208k.
Would have loved to seen/drive an r63 and go smoke some soccer mom's dodge caravans lol.

Actually it wasnt quarter mile runs. It was 0-60 in automatic mode,
then 0-100 in manual mode.
Fastest time of the day in 0-60 was 4.51, didnt recall for 0-100
this car has been running 0-60 and 0-100 for 14 weeks already out of 26 weeks. Its from cali, look for it soon on the demo special lot

Actually the oil temp and the water temp both read 195/c ?
the highest I remember my car oil was 131/c and water about 180/c. I overheated once at 200/c and the entire dash went red till I pulled over.
Guess 195-c had a negative effect on performance since my runs are text book perfect.

Quote from "Jr"
At the Challenge I attended in April, track participants "politely" ran to fill the SL63s first. Once those cars were filled, people filled the CLS63s, followed by the E63s. That pattern went on all day long at each track session. The SL63 was the hands-down favorite car of the day. I didn't get to drive the CLS63 on the track. I unfortunately missed driving that one. I took the E63 on the track once and I swore the car was going to tip over on the turns. It drove so differently than the SL. After I came in, I saw the ESP had been turned off by a previous driver.
The C63 was my second favorite car. It was fast and nimble and lots of fun to drive. (It was the autocross car).

I attended the Roslyn event today as well with a few non-Amg driving friends, our experience:
The cars:
SL63 - Definitely the best of the bunch, we drove it top-down(had to convince the 'minder' we wanted the convertible experience) and truly enjoyed the exhaust note.
C63 - 2nd best of the bunch, everybody liked this over the E63 in terms of 'driving feel'.
E63, ML63 - Power steering is way overboosted, this was a unaminous opinion. Did not feel as peppy as the C or the SL.
CL63 - I didn't stick around to drive this.
The event/experience:
Having done a few AMG Challenges, this event was borderline waste of time. I spent 3 hours there and got to drive 3 cars only once. The drives were 90% at 40mph or lower in small town. Barely had the chance to take it to 60mph. The 'minder' I had with me in the SL-63 would not even allow me to put the transmission in Sport mode, what's the point of calling this the AMG Performance Tour?
