Englishtown is having a Friday night test & tune for muffled street cars this Friday April 9th. 5-10pm. I wuz thinking about taking the AMG out to blow all the winter crap outta the exhaust and to snag a sea level time slip or two. As long as it is not raining. They have an SCCA auto-x the next day on the 10th. I'll be the tall ugly guy in the Red C32 (the fast one)

Any of you east coasters tired of putting along in traffic? Come on down.

I doubt it. I know at Atco T&Ts are $25 and running the Gambler's Race (Bracket) is $40.

E-town
Yeah, there is a nominal fee to run. It was great. Cooler air made for good DA's but bad traction. I blew the tires away on first run (too much air) and spun all the way thru 2nd gear losing to a very quick SRT8 Jeep 4x4 that clocked a 12.20 ET

After dropping pressure, I ran heads up with a E92 M3 V8. I still spun off the line but not so bad and cut a good light getting ahead by 1.5 cars early. I led him thru the 1/8 mi, but by the time we were 50-100 ft from the traps, he caught and passed me on the big end. It is an impressive little car for a beemer. He shifted gears right beside me at 100mph on topend and the M3 chirped the tires, lol.

My ET that run was a 13.30 at 105 mph. My best was a 13.29 ET at 104 mph. Fun night. I was the only benz there but there were four M3/335i's there. One 335i was tuned to the max and was trapping mid/low 12's. Quite impressive. I was pretty pleased with my AMG since it clocked its best time ever.

Let me know when you go again. I couldn't go this time as I hit a pothole last week and had a nice bulge in the side of one of my front tires. Luckily no bent rim. Getting it fixed this week. Also finally getting shorter lugs for my DRs. I'll head out there next time if I can.

Wouldn't mind heading out with some MB guys and cutting some low 12s.

Racing
I am more into SCCA than drags. I see a Jerry tune in my future and would not go back until after to see how much it helps. They do auto-x there about twice a month. Hope to do that next time.

Once I can finish the engine swap on my turbo car, I might go back. But that has taken me way too long. I was really disappointed with the traction at E-town, but it had poured rain the night before so no rubber had been laid down. My car was faster and hooked better with each run.

Irish, let me know next autox you do there - my Benz is not much fun on autox, but the crx is set up pretty well for the twisties, and haven't done a course in a long time.

SCCA Auto-x
Tommy - I will let you know when I plan to go to the auto-x. I travel alot with business and between that and trips back home, I only get a free weekend about once a month. I've never auto-xed the AMG and would like to see how it does. Nothing like cold tires on a dirty parking lot and 400 hp to brighten up your day, lol. But, I am sure it will be more fun than my old Oldsmobile. I have had the AMG on a raod course a couple of times and it does pretty well (destroyed some new tricked out WRX sti's and a race prepped older M3, etc) except for the very tight, off camber, decreasing radius 2nd gear corners where I still get just a hint of understeer. Usually things are slicker at the auto-x since you never have time to get any heat into the tires. My old AMG C36 was a handful and your really felt the weight trying to hustle it around and it handled way better than the newer car.

It will be at least a few weeks before I can go back.
