Ideas for a Beach based Meet in LI or NJ? Discuss them here;

Ok everyone-

First, our last meet was great. Good people, lot's of fun, quality not quantity. Now, we want to retain the excellent personality participation, but some more people wouldn't hurt.

Ok, now, my parents live in Toms River, NJ. So, I am proposing Seaside Hts., Seaside Park, Island Beach State park, Ortley, Lavalette, etc., as a place for the next meet.

We could meet in the AM, hang at the beach, play volley ball, soccer, chill, then meet either at one of the parks on the bay side, for a late morning or afternoon BBQ, then hit the ocean side beach again.

Fug, I'll even volunteer my parents backyard for the BBQ, two grill, no pool, nothing fancy, just a safe place to park the cars, and eat.

Then in the late afternoon into the evening, we could hit the beach again, then cruise the strip in the MBs (and other nice marques), and hit the bars/ clubs, have fun, etc...

So a tenative date could be either the third or last weekend in Aug.

The tenative location could be Ortley Beach, NJ.

9 am - 11 am meet at the Ocean Side, near the Joey Harrison's Beach Club.

between 11:30 and 12:30, drive to the bay side of the Island for a BBQ. Or Drive to Catus Island State Park in Toms River, NJ (10 or 12 minutes away), and BBQ. Hang out, cook, shoot the crap, head back to the ocean side beach.

3:30 or 4:30, Park the MBs on the Bay side in Seaside Hts. (large open areas of parking), look at cars, meet the owners, discuss whatever Or Park and hit the Boardwalk, bar hop, hit the beach again.

Meet back up around 7 or 8 pm at the bay side parking area. Fire up the cars, hit the strip, look at other cars, parade back and forth, randomly hit on women we have no idea whether or not are old enough for us (j/k) and hang. (Beware careless driving and seatbelt tickets)

10 pm or 11 pm, meet at a pre determined bar/ club... drink till dawn, sleep on my parents lawn back in Toms River....

Any other suggestions?

ok-

And if you live too far for this, and would like to suggest DE, or MD as a central place on the East Coast for us to meet, make you suggestions, and include potential accomedations for us who may be traveling from far.

You can't throw a stone in Seaside Hts., NJ without hitting a hotel or motel.

Ocean City, MD is nice I hear?

Let's get this settled by the end of the first week in Aug, so we can plan the second week, to make sure everyone has a place to stay...

Now children, go blast up the other forums, let get something kick *** going, end of the summer blast....

And Kleemann, Evosport, WheelExperts, Tekademics, it's time to step up to the plate and sponsor one of these events.

Please contact me if you are interested.

We support you guys, please show your continued support of us and either come and participate, or help us out.

ps... I will start contacting MB tuners, dealerships, and performance shops, racing clubs, and organizational clubs seeking support.

Ok, mid Aug. so our student friends will def. be able to join us...

Ok, so the approximate date is there. Now it is just roll call, and discussion.

If I have time this weekend, I will scope out BBQ areas and check on any required permits, by-laws, etc...

August 8th and the 15th are Friday's. How about the 17th or the 24th.

Are you looking for a Saturday or Sunday?

Seaside Heights sounds nice considering I've been wanting to go but have not yet managed to get there. How far is it from New York or how far after passing the GW Bridge?

It's about an hour and a half from the GWB. But what YOU would want to do is head down to the Varezano bridge to the Outer Crossing to the NJ Turnpike to Exit 11 Garden State Parkway South to exit 81 B, Rt. 37 to Seaside Hts.

It's kinda far for you so you can crash at my place

Oh wait, I forgot I am not talking to you. Not only did you bail on the AutoX, you then bailed on our NY meet... Ummm, whatever, girlz don't rule. They just leave us holding ourselves waiting for them then make us feel like it is all our fault. I guess that is ruling in a crazy dictatorship way, which come to think of it, reminds me of all of my relationships...

Whatever, this one involves bikini's, you better be there ...

I am not even going to bother asking why you never showed to the last two events you "might" have come to. Don't think I'll even expect you at this one, but, again, we would like to see more people come out to these meets. Please don't make me beg roadfly.org to get a MB section going. Please don't make me ask the Bimmer nuts to let me hang with them because my own kind are lame, boring, and unreliable...

Eleni + possibly 4 others - 8/24 so that we have more time to prepare.

Nuk, that hurts. You guys changed up the post on me so I wasn't getting the notifications. By the time I came back to the Events postings it was the day before the meet. I need more time to prepare . And I wasn't doing the AutoX because I am not into the idea of a loaner helmet .

Oh yeah by the way, girlz do rule .

See everyone at the meet.

Hi Johan,

Yup, I am in Westwood right around the corner from downtown.

I've only ever seen one C32 around here. I think it was a dark silver, it didn't look like the Opel.

Now I am going to have to try to get you to hit up all these events with me. I have been doing a lot of Autocrosses lately. This weekend there are two HPDEs at Pocono I am going to, and I am looking for an autocross on Sat.

Jay-

I would like to do this on the 24th as well.

Eleni-

You should know by now I am just being a goof ball. You think that hurt? Imagine how I felt when you never showed up

I need to see what else may be going on, I'm not sure as of yet, but I would like to go!

The only problem about it being at a beach or near the beach is going to be traffic, especially if its a nice day!

Traffic could be an issue.

I recommend you get an early start, and this is also why I tried to set multiple meet times, and I am scoping the area for a single parking area with the capacity to meet the needs of the group.

Has anyone posted to any other forums? I would like to set this up to be a true automotive enthusiasts meet, Audi, VW, BMW, others???

Thomas

GJ- Sorry I missed the last bmwcca event, I need tires before I can x again.

hehehe---

While we are on the topics of installs to come... I am going to have some surprises for everyone come the next meet. Some good old fashion hardcore "stuff"!

I will officially announce with pictures when it arrives. I doubt others will be as excited as I am. But this is a big deal. Other c-coupe owners should fear me

Ok, I am going to have to set the date to be 8/24. It is later in the summer, and the weekend before labor day, so the beach shouldn't be crazy crouded, but there will be people around.

Any strong objections? No.... ok good. I will create the official thread this weekend with roll call and times, locations, and directions after this weekend. Should be able to include some pics too. Then we need to get the world out to the other members in the area and other boards...
