FS: CLK W208 Roof Rack

I have a set of W208 CLK roof racks. They are Mercedes brand, and very rare. I sold my CLK, so I don't need them anymore.

These slip right onto the the stock mounting slots near the window. They are then tightened down and lock into place. Very handy for transporting a surf board, bike, etc. They won't damage the car, either. They can be put on or taken off by one person in under 5 minutes.

$275 plus shipping, based on your location, or best offer.

I'm interested. I have a 2000 CLK430 Coupe, do they hold 1 bike or 2? Also, do you have a photo?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I sold the car, or I would get you pictures of it on the car. These are so rare, I googled plus searched this forum and Benzworld, and still couldn't find a picture on the car.

I will post a picture of them off the car and try to explain how they fit. I have just the bars themselves. There are additional modules you can get that slide into the tracks of the bars and allow you to attache specific items (bike, kayak, etc.). I believe you can fit two bike adapters on these bars. I'll get you some more pictures.

Hard to explain, but here's how they work. They clip onto the front and rear of the car. Only two parts make contact with the car. There is a rubber bumper on the bottom of the base (1st part), and then the base extends down towards the clasp (2nd part). The bumper goes on the strip that is between your roof and door frame. The clasp goes into a small notch in the rubber molding by your door frame. This minimizes any chance of damage. You then tighten down the allen key (between the two yellow dots) to secure the clasp. The plastic part slides in and locks with a key to prevent removal.

You can see that the cross bars have a slot on the top. You can slide a rubber bumper in there if you want to carry something flat (surfboard). You can also slide Mercedes attachments into that slot (kayak rail, bike rail, etc.). I've never tried the other attachments, but I think those are more universal between models, so they should be easy to find (both online and dealer).

They are very easy and convenient. They take about 5 minutes and can be done by one person. I know other people who have them (on a C class coupe, but should be similar) who leave them on permanently. They are sturdy and do lock. They also make the car a lot more functional. I used it for my kayak and surfboard (throw on top and tie down with straps).

Let me know if that helps or if you have any other questions.

The racks

Thanks for the information. I am very interested in them, are the rack attachment bars easy to come by? Also, where are you so perhaps we can arrange shipping. I can pay you using PayPal or whatever.

Thanks

You can get the bike attachment from the dealer, I'm sure. It's typically less expensive than the rack itself, so the dealer rip-off won't be as high. I believe the attachments work across a lot of different models (the mount between the rack and attachment is universal), whereas the rack is model specific (based on the dimensions of the car), so it's much easier to find the attachments than the rack.

It looks like you can also get Yakima or other third party brand attachments that will fit the Mercedes racks. I would try going to a local shop in person so you can actually see and try which brand will fit best (Thule, Yakima, etc.). That would probably be the cheapest option.

If you haven't already committed to the present buyer, do you mind listing the part number on the racks? I'd like to see if they are compatible with the C Coupe.

I have a kayak I'd like to be able to transport.

Still for sale, buyer hasn't gotten back to me.

$250, I don't have any use for these any more.

Still for sale, both buyers seem to have disappeared. $200 + shipping, obo. If you find a better price on a generic brand (Thule, Yakima) I will match it. These are far better designed bars and will not damage your car like a generic brand might.

Hi, I was searching for a roof rack to transport a bike on my 2002 CLK and saw your posting. If these are still available, please respond. Thanks.
