Thumbs up 2009 G550 I test drove! I like it ...
Quick comments on the 2009 G550 I test drove yesterday. It’s really nice. Differences and comments …

. The new G550 exhaust note is nicer than the 08 G500 … not like a G55, but definitely a bit ‘throatier’ – sporty sound. Noticeable.
. Love the new seats. I always felt the 08 seats were too bouncy, rounded – I couldn’t get ‘seated’ even with the ergo settings. You can sort of see from this picture … the perforations give it a softer feel. Much nicer than the previous style.



. Of course the nav is way improved.
. New grill looks good too.
. I see a few more tweeters, guessing the stereo is better. (At least I think so, need to look at my rear doors again).
. Little faster with the bigger engine (but I didn’t push it on a test drive).
. I think there was something new under that back bumper – like a bigger guard of something.
. Ergo seat controls for the passenger - oh ventilated seats too, that's new.

I think that’s it. All in all. I like it. I’m looking for the right color/interior combination.

Verde Brook with Cognac/Black interior is the best combination I have seen on the G.

I wish a had a picture of it, all I can say is to look at it on "build your own" on the MBUSA website, although that does not do it justice. Try calling your dealer to see if they have one in that combination you can see, you will not be disappointed.

Unhappy In NJ?
Did you see that 09 with the Cognac interior in NJ? Where? I had to drive up to Greenwich CT to test drive one ... no one around here has them yet (that I know of). ???

I find the 'build your own' only gives you a vague idea on the colour ... so, I walked up to MB-Manhattan on 41st St, and they had no '09 G's on the floor or in the lot ... and no Verde Brook anything

They had an '08 G55 and G500 in the lot ... and a couple old G500's that must have just come in on trade (they looked beat )

Cool Interesting ...
According to MB, there's only one with cognac on the way to the states. Odd. It's a dealer car, but not a customer ordered car. That means, if there was a customer who wanted it - there's time to have it marked as sold, and shipped to that specific location.

Went back to MB-Manhattan today ... still no '09 G's on the floor ... but they did have a Verde Brook ML in the lot. It is a cloudy day here, so it took 3 salesmen to find it. It is a nice colour, but sure looks black until you are right on top of it!

I saw a CL with that color interior - the sales guy claimed the color was exactly the same as the G550 interior. Not good looking. I think you'd get sick of it in a hurry.

We have cognac in our E, just beautiful ... certainly not sick of it!



And on my G, I have the Designo version ... also love it. The E cognac is much *browner*, but still very rich. I like both ...

I had my eye on the 550 but just got almost 20,000 off sticker on a new 08. Couldn't resist. 30,000 less than a new 09 MSRP.

We get comments on it all the time. Is it available in your state? We just got our G from NJ. One of the few 08s left new and quite a deal.
