Hello
I don't think I used the bottom clips, I think I only attached this trim piece with the 2 screws on the top.
As you might have seen in my posts, I molded 2 radio crates in to one. Somehow it all worked out at the end.....

I also molded my old G class crate with a C class facelift one. I wrapped the dashboard with leather too and might be this extra thickness that push the hazard trim a bit ... I’ll try to adjust it or to use bottom clips.
Soon I’ll begin reassembling and I’ll post some pictures, I copied several of your solutions but I went for a more custom/sporty look

Could be the thickness of the leather that's getting in the way. I actually trimmed the vinyl off the dash in the tight tolerance areas so I don't have issues with fitment.
Do post some pics on here, would love to see what it looks like when all assembled.

Do you get a drone/ humming sound when driving with sunroof open?
If you drive very slow like less than 20 mph or so OR with one or more windows roll down then the drone/humming sound will go away.
My dealership says it is normal. Is it?

Yes, it is normal. You can mitigate the noise by closing the sunroof to different openings until the noise subsides depending on the speed of the vehicle. Leaving windows open creates another dynamic with buffeting and sounds. Good luck!

I must say this tread has been an inspiration for me.
Your level of detail is impressive.
I have just completed a similar restoration of a 1988 Land Rover Defender 90, and as a followup plan on taking on a G class
I have bought a 1988 280 GE (W460) which I intend to restore/convert as you have done here. I do love the G Class however I intend to upgrade a number of areas, the least of which will be the addition of a center console which will house factory style cup holders as in the 2019 model.
I would love to be able to call on you for assistance as i will be adding all the modern features and electronic from a later model donor vehicle.
Again, excellent job and I know you will enjoy driving this vehicle a lot.

As far as adding modern electronics to a 1988 280 GE, not sure how much of it will work. Im not familiar with the electronics of that interior.
I had my window switches, steering wheel and seat controls re-programed by a company in Russia. All I did was plug it in.
Feel free to DM me and ill let you know if I can help you. Then if needed you could call me.
Thank you
Good luck )))
It's nice seeing people giving attention and restoring these cars, they are iconic.

Thank you
Cosmetically installing 2013 interior is not going to cause many issues, the big hurdle will be integrating new electronics in to old wiring and ECU. Most likely they integrated new ECS with old ECU. Sometimes they run both at the same time so there are no faults. It takes allot of computer programing and wire soldering. Total cost of what he did is $25,000 (in Russia). Keep in mind, labor is cheaper there then here.
For example... I will be purchasing 2014 S500 Coupe steering wheel from Russia and installing it on to my 2002 G500. They will reprogram the buttons to work with my original wring and functions. How they will do it? I do not know... but I know it take allot of re-soldering and programing.
Also I will be installing 2014 G550 door panels and window switches on to my 2002 G500. I will ship them new window switches and my original window switches, they will integrate the guts of old switches in to the housing of the new switches. They will have to re-solder some connections in order for new switches to be able to control 2002 internals.
I dont see anyone taking on 2002-2013 interior swap here in the states. It will be to costly (unless you do the work yourself and you are savvy in electronics and computer programing).

Hello
Yes, thats what they told me Ill need to do and thats what another electrician told me needs to be done.
I have not done it myself, for now, I installed airbag simulator in order for the light not to be on, but once I take it to the electrician, ill have them solder proper plug and plug in it.
I did not want to take a chance and mess with it myself.

Gotcha, thank you for the info! I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing - the plug that needs to be soldered is on the new airbag to the car and what I think makes sense is to take the old plug from my current airbag and have that soldered. Then they will just plug in, correct?
Thanks,
Ross

Not sure about which plug to use, have not researched it yet.
As for the airbag emulator, I bought one on eBay, just search: "SRS Airbag Car Simulator Emulator Resistor Bypass"
