Angry Help Diagnose Coolant Leak (2003 G55 AMG)

Hello, I developed a pretty good sized coolant leak this morning. I parked and saw it running out from the bottom of the car. It's leaking on the ground below the firewall area. It's at the shop now, but the dealer that I just bought it from said that it's normal with older G's. (I'm not buying it).

It's dripping from around the crossmember area.

What do you guys think?

Is it coolant or A/C condensate? Sounds like the latter to me.

Coolant leaks in older G's are NOT normal. I drove a 1984 280GE for 18 years and currently a 2000 G500 for 16 yrs without the first coolant leak.

I first thought it was AC condensation until this morning. I had a stream of water flowing down the parking lot about 20 ft long. It looked clear and didn't have a taste to it. Also, no coolant smells.

You'd think that a coolant light would come on.. but nothing did.

Based on this description, I would bet on A/C condensate. The leakage point is where the drains from the A/C evaporator are located.

Also, I sure would get it out of that dealer before he screws you without giving you a kiss.

Well, it's at a small shop that I take all my cars too. I'll give him a call and give him a heads on that it might just be condensation. Are these known to condensate a lot? I've never known them to drip that much water!

I called and let him know what you said. I need to have them put springs and shocks on it anyways...

I don't know where you're located, so no idea about the relative humidity where you are.

If it looks like water and has no glycol smell or taste, it sure as hek is NOT coolant!
